The Epidemiology Program in the Public Health Sciences Division of Fred Hutch is seeking a part-time (10-15 hours per week), temporary Research Assistant to assist with a research specimen inventory project over the summer.
ResponsibilitiesThe candidate should be able to work between 10-15 hours per week; flexible hours within reason can be chosen after the initial training period. Under supervision of data coordinator, individual will work with other team members and independently to perform responsibilities including but not limited to:
The hourly pay range for this position is from $19.97 to $48.08 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

- Assist with routine office and lab tasks including inventory and organization
- Retrieve and file pathological materials (glass slides, aliquot tubes) and study documentation
- Re-label, sort, organize pathological materials and documentation
- Assist with prepping materials for shipping
- Electronic record keeping, data entry
- Scanning and Redacting electronic files
- Address and problem-solve all inventory related concerns
- Communicate effectively with team
- Work in various conditions such as freezers, coolers, storerooms
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- High School diploma, GED or the equivalent.
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
- Experience working in an environment that practices electronic record keeping and transacting.
- Good problem solving and communication skills.
- Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to learn new skills quickly is essential.
- Previous experience with handheld scanners/barcode scanning experience is desirable.
- Physical Requirements: Candidates must be able to:
- Stand for extended periods of time
- Push and pull wheeled objects
- Lift objects up to 40 pounds
- Ability to stand, squat, bend down, and maneuver and manipulate keypad and scanner
