Free to Thrift is a small business in Kingston, NY. We are social, collaborative, inclusive and our goal is to demonstrate and practice what thrift stores can accomplish in their communities. We aim to be a beneficial channel for passing on the donated goods we receive in order to encourage sustainable use and consumption. Our store offers 2,000 sq/ft of donated clothing, household goods, crafts, media, and jewelry. Free to Thrift is a family owned and operated small business..

• Assist in creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain good customer relationships.
• Process, price, tag, hang, and display merchandise to maximize sales.
• Handle all donations with care, and donors with respect and courtesy.
• Handle merchandise as directed, always maintaining proper categories and colorization.
• Assist in cleaning and general maintenance of store property.
• Immediately report theft, customer complaints, injuries, and any unsafe equipment or conditions to management.
• Maintain a clean and clutter free work area.
• Ensure store is adequately but not excessively stocked with merchandise at all times
• Keep all areas of the store clean and organized, including sales floor
• Other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisors

Qualifications – Experience – Characteristics:

• Previous experience in retail sales or customer service preferred
• Passion for sustainability, community, and thrifting!
• Ability to multitask and enjoy a high-energy, high-productivity environment
• Outstanding organizational skills
• Excellent time management
• Friendly, approachable, and able to maintain a positive attitude
• Approach challenges with collaboration, cooperation, and poise
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-oriented skills
• Must be able to work flexible hours and have weekend availability.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Use fingers and hands to tag items
• Climb step stool
• Squat, stretch and stand on feet for duration of scheduled shift
• Bilingual a plus

Our business model requires sales associates to be cross-trained in different areas of work so the store's labor demands can be met each day.

All employees must be flexible and ready to work wherever they are needed by the manager and/or supervisor.

All employees are expected to perform at or above the company’s minimum performance standards for each job they are trained to do.
