SCOPE OF ENGAGEMENT: Housekeeper I-H

ACCOUNTABLE TO: SHPFM Department Director

CLASSIFICATION: Hourly. 1099 Independent Contractor.

WORK SCHEDULE: services provided to assigned clients in their community based homes or in the company’s office during the hours of Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

COMPENSATION RANGE (to be deleted before issuance to employee / new hire): Compensation $15.00 to $18.00 per hour per properly documented, properly rendered service as indicated on the Appendix III - Contract Price.

ANTICIPATED TRAVEL: 100% of the time. There is no additional compensation for travel. You will drive company vehicles and must complete driving screening.

SCOPE OF WORK:

The Housekeeping Attendant (or "Housekeeper") position must demonstrate and promote a strong commitment to providing the best possible experience for our clients, visitors and staff as it pertains to the cleanliness of company property including in its facilities, real estate and vehicle assets. The position is responsible for cleaning offices, client rooms, facilities and vehicles in accordance with company guidelines and procedures. You will have an assigned storage unit and office work space in one of the company’s contracted storage facilities for staging, supplies inventory management, equipment storage, and housekeeping related office work.

  1. On a daily basis, as indicated on the cleaning schedule form, using the appropriate checklist as a guide, clean company property.

  2. On a weekly basis, submit completed weekly cleaning schedules for the week to the supervisor by Friday 5:00 PM each week.

  3. On a daily basis, submit a completed cleaning checklist for the day to the supervisor by 5:00 PM each day.

  4. On a daily basis, check fluids on assigned company vehicles advising the maintenance technician and supervisor if any fluid levels are low or if the vehicle is in need of repair. Do not drive a company assigned vehicle if maintenance is needed without written approval from the CEO or COO.

  5. On a daily basis, conduct inventory of supplies and complete the inventory sheet. Meet with Accounts Payables Department Manager and SHPFM Department Director to make purchases for supplies and equipment if needed.

  6. Participate in external and internal audits/surveys (CARF/CSA/OHCQ) as directed by the supervisor.

  7. Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement plans by completing periodic audits or other activities to ensure regulatory compliance and/or improve service delivery.

  8. Assist the supervisor with any work-related tasks as requested.

  9. Collaborate with and serve as program POC for external treatment providers and outside agencies as needed.

  10. Responsible for following regulations of COMAR, CARF, any other regulatory body, and company policies/ procedures related to service delivery and documentation and co-facilitating orientation of all new hires to these as well.

  11. Support the maintenance of a safe environment by participating in training and drills as requested.

CONTRACTOR VETTING REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Time management skills - Housekeepers often work on their own or they may work with a small group of other housekeepers and must complete a set number of cleanings each day. Being able to properly manage time and a set schedule is a key skill needed by housekeepers to ensure they complete all cleanings on time. They must also be punctual for cleaning appointments and finish cleaning in the time frame expected by the client.

  2. Attention to detail - A housekeeper must be extremely detail-oriented to be effective at their housekeeping job. From organizing various household items to ensuring that floors and windows are clean and left streakless, these cleaning professionals need a keen eye for detail to successfully perform their duties. The more thorough a housekeeper is at completing their tasks, the better they will be at their job.

  3. Communication skills - Housekeepers must regularly communicate with clients, coworkers and supervisors to ensure the expectations for each cleaning are thoroughly understood. Without good communication skills, a housekeeper may not meet the needs of the client or overlook important components required to complete a particular job.

  4. Interpersonal skills - Housekeepers often work directly with clients and also must be able to work well with others to be successful at their job. Common interpersonal skills needed by housekeepers to perform their job well include dependability, teamwork and responsibility.

  5. Flexibility - Many housekeepers are required to work different hours each day based on a client's needs. For example, if a housekeeper is tasked with cleaning an office building, they may have to wait to begin work until all employees have left the building for the evening. Some housekeepers even work overnight or early in the morning. Being flexible can help a housekeeper be available for more jobs and potentially make more money.

  6. Customer service - Housekeepers must have strong customer service skills to be successful at what they do. This is because their work is based on the approval of the client, so ensuring clients are satisfied with a housekeeper's performance is key to being successful in this career.

  7. Housekeeping hard skills - Housekeepers need to develop several hard skills to be successful in performing their jobs. Hard skills are specific skills required to perform a certain task. Common hard skills needed to be a good housekeeper include:

    1. Carpet cleaning

    2. Sweeping

    3. Deep cleaning

    4. Mopping

    5. Window treatment cleaning

    6. Vacuuming

    7. Dusting

    8. Bathroom and bedroom cleaning

    9. Infection control

    10. Polishing

  8. Preferred but not required certification in cleaning, janitorial, floor tech, or similar

  9. Preferred but not required high school diploma or equivalent

  10. Must maintain general liability insurance to cover liabilities arising from its professional practice.

  11. Must complete vendor orientation prior to rendition of services

  12. Principal of contractor’s firm must pass a background screening

  13. If rendering services under a corporate entity (LLC, corporation, etc.) vendor must provide a certificate of good standing and complete a w-9
