General SummaryThe Avalon server is responsible for preparing and serving therapeutic diet trays to health center residents in accordance with posted therapeutic diet menus. The Avalon server is also responsible for proper table service in all StoneRidge community dining rooms including Avalon and the Cottage.

Essential Job Duties
  • Sets tables and maintains workstations in proper order.
  • Takes orders, provides service, and requested items both graciously and courteously, answering pertinent menu-related questions as needed.
  • Prepares therapeutic desserts and salads as required.
  • Serves meals in the health center.
  • Sets up tables in the health center dining room and breaks down same after meal.
  • Transports all required items, edible (hot and hold dishes included) and non-edible, to and from the health center.
Other Duties
  • Assists in maintaining a high level of customer service for our residents and their guests.
  • Assists with dish washing and distribution of clean dishes if needed.
  • Maintains safe and sanitary conditions in work areas.
  • Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code.
  • Completes all assigned cleaning tasks.
  • Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively.
  • Experience waiting tables in a hotel, restaurant or club with fine dining preferred; will train.
  • Ability to interpret and explain menu, refer or answer questions, coordinate meal service process and understands requests.
  • Ability to work in close cooperation with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisor and peers. Requires courtesy, tact and graciousness.
Physical Requirements/Working ConditionsMust be able to stand or walk for up to 8 hours per day. Must be able to bend, stoop, and stretch frequently throughout the day. Moderate to heavy physical effort is needed infrequently. Manual dexterity for preparing food. Ability to use standard industrial kitchen appliances required. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. independently. May be exposed to extreme temperatures (freezers and stoves-range burners) for short periods of time. May be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals. Must be able to see, hear, and communicate with others.
