REPORTS TO: SUPERINTENDENT
Qualifications
  • Post-Secondary Degree in Information or Computer Science related field, equivalent years of work experience, or a combination of training and previous work experience.
  • Thorough understanding of computer hardware, software, networking, and troubleshooting principles.
  • Familiarity with Chrome, Windows and Mac operating systems, educational software, and common productivity tools used in schools. Any other alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think analytically and logically, and provide effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with users of varying technical backgrounds, including students, teachers, and administrative staff.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular school hours (evenings/weekends) for system updates, maintenance, or emergencies, as required.
  • Highly organized with strong project management skills, and drive to meet organizational and departmental objectives; ability to manage projects on interrelated time lines.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills - solution oriented.
  • Basic understanding of HTML and website maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential and time sensitive matters.
  • Valid driver’s license, along with proof of current insurance coverage.
JOB GOAL: The Technology Director will assume management responsibility for the direction, coordination, integration and implementation of technology across all district buildings and departments. The director will be responsible for planning, purchasing, installing and maintaining physical technology systems of the district enabling full educational use of technology at all times in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and requirements. Performance Responsibilities
  • Responsible for maintaining technology operations to include systems administration, network management, telecommunications management, system and data security, system and data backup and emergency recovery plans.
  • Provides leadership in identifying hardware and software needs and purchases, ensuring that they are consistent with the school technology plan and state technology guidelines and standards.
  • Manages and communicates all service request tickets. Develops protocols to ensure tickets are completed in a timely manner and accurately.
  • Set up and configure computers, laptops, tablets, and other devices for student and staff use, ensuring all necessary software and security measures are in place.
  • Oversees E-Rate program for technology initiatives within the district.
  • Develops and implements continuity protocols to minimize disruption of school operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss.
  • Advises district leadership and technology team on financial implications of technology programs.
  • Recognizes, formulates, and reviews policies necessary to implement district information technology management goals.
  • Installs, updates, and maintains software applications, operating systems, and educational software on school computers.
  • Supports users of Google Suite of applications, Internet, and Web-based applications.
  • Monitors and maintains computer systems, network infrastructure, and audio-visual equipment, identifying and resolving technical issues promptly to ensure uninterrupted classroom activities. Attends district approved in-services, workshops.
  • Manages user accounts, permissions, and access rights, following established protocols and security guidelines.
  • Maintains an inventory of IT equipment, track hardware and software licenses, and assist in the procurement of new devices or software as needed.
  • Provides training and workshops to enhance users' proficiency with educational software and technology tools.
  • Stays up to date with the latest technological advancements and educational technology trends to offer proactive support and suggest improvements in line with the district's goals.
  • Maintains data integrity in all systems relating to student and staff data. Identify, diagnose, and resolve problems for users of the Student Information System (SIS).
  • Assists in performing basic SIS setup for schools before the start of the new school year. Assist district staff to facilitate the New Year Rollover and Year-End Transition.
  • Grants SIS access to end-users with the appropriate level of system security. Reset passwords as needed.
  • Documents technical procedures, create user guides, and contribute to the knowledge base, promoting efficient problem-solving and knowledge sharing within the IT team.
  • Supports the local, state and national data collection and reporting for student information, as well as ensure data integrity and accuracy by enforcing District procedures as they relate to data collection, retention and reporting.
  • Collaborates with the Technology Committee to develop, review, revise the district 5 year technology plan in accordance with the district’s strategic plan and state guidelines.
  • Oversees security of systems, networks, and enterprise information; facilitates IT security audits or investigations.
  • Oversees organizational management in all assigned areas.
  • Implements practices that focus on service excellence to all stakeholders.
  • Supervision of staff.
