Compensation and Benefits:
Base Salary is Per 2025/26 Salary Schedule plus $8,750 Annual Flat Salary Stipend

New Teachers are offered a one-time salary advance opportunity to increase their August paycheck. We want to assist in all ways possible through the transition into the teaching profession.
Paid Leave: 4 Personal Days; 9 Sick Days; 5 Bereavement Days; Civic Leave; and Professional Leave as determined by administrators. Certified staff also administer a Sick Leave Bank that all certified staff are eligible to join on an annual basis. Teachers who are parents or guardians of an FPS student can also use up to 4 sick days, per year, to attend FPS-sponsored activities for their child.
Retirement: FPS is a member of the Nebraska Public Employee Retirement System and contributes to the defined plan per Nebraska statute

Education Level:
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- Master’s Degree Preferred
Certification/Licensure:
- Nebraska Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement
- K-12 Reading Specialist Preferred
- K-12 or 7-12 Special Education Endorsement Preferred / Desired
Experience Desired:
- At least five years of successful teaching experience
- Experience Leading Literacy Instruction and Initiatives
Other Requirements:
- Good human relations skills
- Ability to work with students, staff, administration, and parents
- Knowledge of and continued learning in subject area to be taught
- Ability to demonstrate appropriate lesson planning, model effective teaching strategies, and use applicable assessment practices

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Basic:
The Secondary Literacy Facilitator position offers the opportunity to work with excellent district staff. The facilitator is able to sustain involvement with long-term projects and assignments related to student literacy success at the secondary level. Work effectively with teachers, students, staff, specialists, administrators, parents, and community. Able to remain flexible and positive with the demands and assignments of the job. Are able to work within flexible time schedules and demonstrate a professional responsibility for instructions.
Frequent:
- Assist in research and provide information and guidance regarding: content, evidence based effective instruction, assessment, and resources focusing on secondary literacy.
- Facilitate development, implementation, and monitoring of MTSS literacy programming at the secondary level utilizing data based decision making framework.
- Provide individualized, classroom-based, and/or team-based support to implement a comprehensive literacy program.
- Model best literacy teaching practices as needed.
- Facilitate the integration of literacy skills and strategies into classrooms and across content areas.
- Assist teachers in the collection and analysis of data to improve student achievement and plan for instruction.
- Participate in professional development opportunities, professional research, and reading.
- Monitor effectiveness and progress of literacy instruction, initiatives, and student performance for continuous improvement and next steps.
- Other duties may be assigned.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS (Intellectual, Sensory): Skillful in planning, assessment literacy, and adjusting lessons. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills. This position works closely with other facilitators and program leaders supporting student literacy.
