TECHNICAL DESIGNER

Reporting To: Creative Designer and Fashion Director

Location: New York Showroom

Department: Design & Production

Job Summary:

As a Technical Designer at French Connection, you will create easy to read technical packages, including construction details and thorough and accurate technical drawings and spec sheets, testing requirements, and packaging and labelling specifications. You will evaluate fit and construction on a live model and provide fit comments to our US supplier.

Responsibilities:

Fittings and Samples

• Attend sample fit sessions: Review fit samples with US supplier and internal full- price team to ensure the samples meet the design spec. Proactively resolve any issues with fit.
• Work alongside US Creative Designer and Fashion Director to flag any issues that could affect price or delivery.
• Measure samples and input measurements into a spec sheet.

Product

• Ensure specific style information on the PLM system and tech packs is up to date at all times.
• Create and update tech packs with Illustrator and Excel.
• With the support from the Director of Off- Price, develop seasonal product ensuring that we deliver key trends with pricing in mind.
• Color, fabric research and Pantone matching.
• Source and develop new fabric/yarn/wash/trims etc. to collate information for sourcing packs.
• Interpret trends and develop product without infringing copyright, design rights or trademarks.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the fashion industry working with all categories
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Excel, and Microsoft Office
• Basic understanding of the design product development life cycle
• Works well in a team environment with strong personable skills
• Works quickly and efficiently in a pressured and fast-paced environment
• Manage own workload and able to prioritize important tasks
