Friendship Forest Academy is Hiring a Lead Teacher - Middle Grades Near Lawrenceville, GA

Job DescriptionJoin our staff as a full-time lead teacher for the 2024-2025 school year and beyond!We seek a full-time teacher to provide in-person instruction to a small group of students ages 9-12 at our private school for neurodivergent children. Our school hours are 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Our ideal candidate will be able to use innovative teaching techniques to create Individualized Learning Plans that are effective in various settings, such as small classes (2-6 students) and indoor and outdoor sensory spaces. Must be comfortable teaching all subjects at a middle school level.Friendship Forest Academy is committed to creating a safe environment where neurodivergent children can learn, explore, discover, and create. Our students are children 5-14 years old with sensory and learning differences such as ADHD, dyslexia, and autism. We offer a 2:1 student-teacher ratio that allows for an enhanced learning environment. The ideal professional will strive to create a solid relationship with learners, their families, and the staff, aiming for a successful and meaningful learning experience.
Qualifications:
  • At least three years of teaching experience.
  • Experience working with neurodivergent children.
  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of education from a Professional Standards Commission (PSC) approved college or university.
  • Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, the central office, and school-based staff, students, parents, and community.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, and excellent human relations skills.
  • Ability to deeply understand and practice the ideas on which our core beliefs are based.
Preferred:
  • Clear Georgia teaching certificate.
  • Solid experience in designing and executing differentiated classroom management and lesson plans.
  • Proven ability to teach and openness to learn different teaching methods.
  • Willingness and ability to incorporate artistic expression into lessons (music, visual art, dance, drama).
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Plan for appropriate learning experiences for students based on the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) and our student's abilities and needs.
  • Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of neurodivergent students.
  • Demonstrate command of the school subjects being taught.
  • Develop and prioritize short and long-term instructional objectives based on GSE.
  • Evaluate, select, and modify resources and activities.
  • Provide an initial focus for the lesson.
  • Organize content for the presentation of the lesson.
  • Utilize effective instructional strategies and methods of providing information for students to acquire learning.
  • Provide a formative assessment that measures student progress toward individual objectives.
  • Provide a summative assessment that measures student achievement of objectives.
  • Organize a learning environment to maximize student interest in learning activities and social relationships.
  • Understand the importance of communication and focus on the message behind students' behavior.
  • Participate in professional growth and professional learning activities.
  • Maintain professional responsibilities and act as a role model.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit
or stand for extended periods. The employee must also talk, hear, stand, and
walk. Employees may be required to use their hands to finger, handle, feel, and
reach. The employee is often required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee
