Job Title: Human Resources Specialist
Location: 85 Arch Street, New Britain, CT
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm
Type: Non-Exempt, Full-time, starts at $23/hr
Reports to: Human Resources
Job Purpose: The Human Resources Specialist is a critical part of the agency’s infrastructure. This position works closely with Executive Leadership and is responsible for the clerical and administrative functions of human resources, including protocol creation, research, document drafting, and interfacing discreetly with leadership and employees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Instill the mission of the FSC in your daily work: “Our work is love made visible”, and
embrace the core values of the agency- Community, Initiative, Accountability, Creativity;
● Ability to work with diverse populations, individually and as a part of a team, with a
commitment to ending homelessness in our community;
● Assist the coordination of human resources for the agency, including but not limited to:
○ Driving the full cycle recruiting of candidates, including pre-screening of applicants,
collecting pertinent information to ensure comprehensive analyses of candidates are
conducted before job offers are made;
○ Perform on-boarding paperwork and training, coordinating cross-departmental
involvement to ensure smooth and efficient entry for new employees into the
agency;
○ Facilitate benefits enrollment for new employees;
○ Drive coordination with other agency departments regarding onboarding setup and
exiting procedures;
○ Assist with annual renewal information for benefits paperwork;
○ Facilitate the processing of unemployment claims and filings;
○ Lead the annual employee evaluation process, ensuring lack of bias and sound
judgment is applied and all needed documentation is in place;
○ Guide employee investigations, supporting managers as needed to ensure thorough,
sensitive, and considerate follow-up, and recommending and enacting course of
action in conjunction with Human Resources leadership;
○ Other HR reporting, as needed
● Continually works with the Human Resources team to streamline and automate the
onboarding process and improve internal processes, including the development and
implementation of a Human Resources Information System;
● Maintains complete confidentiality of all HR related information;
● Draft policies and procedures as assigned, using agency branding and templates and in
partnership with Departmental leadership;
● Conduct routine audit of personnel records for all state and federal mandated
documentation;
● Tracks training, certifications and insurance expirations for all staff;
● Assist Executive Leadership in carrying out office related tasks as requested, including data
entry, typing and filing as needed ;
● Sit at front desk at 85 Arch, answering phones and directing visitors when needed in the
Executive Office Administrator’s absence;

Minimum Qualifications:
● Associate’s Degree with a concentration in Human Resources or 3 years of experience in
Human Resources.
● Demonstrated pattern of proactivity, initiative, organization, and follow-through required.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to discern and
disseminate information.
