POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Coder processes patient data such as treatment records and related insurance information. The position includes day-to-day input, handling and entering of procedures, diagnostic codes for services rendered, and insurance information received. They also are tasked with coding a patient’s diagnosis, along with a request for payment from the patient’s insurance company. The candidate should possess high critical thinking skills, the ability to analyze and adhere to coding guidelines, and a refined judgment to handle them appropriately. The candidate must be able to work overtime hours as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, listen, and review. WORK ENVIRONMENT
An employee works in a temperature-controlled office environment. The employee sits at a desk during regularly scheduled work hours, answers and makes calls using a standard telephone, types on a standard keyboard, and reads and comprehends information from a computer terminal and/or written resources.
