FTS is Hiring a Team Lead - Data Engineering Near Atlanta, GA

Contract to hire role

Hybrid work schedule

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate complex technical concepts to business stakeholders, ensuring they understand the development process and have realistic expectations.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to the development team and stakeholders based on best practices and industry trends to maximize ROI.
  • Translate requirements and data strategy into clear Epics/Stories, removing ambiguity and providing accurate time and resource estimates.
  • Anticipate potential challenges or edge cases, addressing them proactively.
  • Facilitate collaboration between business stakeholders and development teams to keep projects on track.
  • Lead the design and implementation of data and analytics architecture, ensuring compliance, quality, and sustainable platform growth.
  • Mentor and train data team members and business users as needed.
  • Build scalable data pipelines to integrate and model datasets from various sources, meeting both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Provide technology, tools, and data to support enterprise-wide reporting, analytics, data science, and self-service needs.
  • Delegate tasks and coordinate with the technical team to meet established timelines.
  • Ensure data quality by implementing and monitoring a data quality framework with the data source teams.
  • Conduct end-to-end analysis, including data gathering, analysis, scaled deliverables, and presentations.
  • Assist in recruiting and growing the data team with the right talents.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required
  • 10 years of experience in ETL/ELT design, development, and implementation using standard tools
  • 7 years of SQL development experience
  • 7 years of experience managing ETL/ELT using industry-standard practices
  • 3 years of Cloud (Azure) experience
  • 3 years of Snowflake experience, hands-on experience with Star/Snowflake schema design, data modeling, and data pipelines
  • 3 years of SQL Server Reporting Services experience
  • 2 years of experience leading and mentoring ETL developers in an agile environment

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of SQL databases and queries.
  • Advanced knowledge of Change Data Capture (CDC) and Change Tracking (CT).
  • Experience with various ETL/ELT solutions.
  • Experience working with diverse data sets, both large and small.
  • Experience with data in multiple ERP and data movement technologies.
  • Proficiency in normalizing and de-normalizing data and creating fit-for-purpose data models.
  • Knowledge of ETL best practices and standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for quick issue resolution.
  • Experience with Cloud (Azure), Snowflake, SQL Server (2014-2019), SQL Server Reporting Services, and SQL Server Integration Services.
  • Ability to present ideas concisely in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Preferred experience with the design and development of Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDW).
  • Preferred experience with Data Lakehouse and Data Fabric architecture frameworks.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour
