Fuller Industries is Hiring an Environmental Health & Safety Assistant Near Great Bend, KS
Summary: This position is responsible for applying state and federal laws and regulations to labeling, shipping, tax-free alcohol, pesticides, hazardous materials. To serve as liaison between technical departments and those persons within and outside the company seeking technical information, and to keep the company in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Essential DutiesComputer savvy and extreme attention to detail Clear understanding of processes Provide regulatory requirements for new and revised Product Labels Meeting deadlines is very important – responsible for creating, maintaining, and submitting all reporting documents for DOT, KDHE, OSHA, EPA, FDA, and all other reporting requirements in a timely manner Coach the manufacturing team while on the plant floor at least one full day each week; safety is a job that must be done in the field

Essential Duties
- Document any deficiencies and begin the process to correct items on the plant floor; these must be corrected within 21 days
- Comfortable giving presentations – lead weekly toolbox safety talks and present the quarterly schedule of topics to supervisor 45 days prior to the start of the quarter
- Must be in the plant at least one day each week at shift start to evaluate safety during setup
- Respond to all customers requests for technical information through Customer Service and Product Mangers
- Register pesticides according to Federal and State FIFRA requirements
- Complete and file documentation required by various federal and state agencies for product legal compliance
- Develop, and review labels, or other documents relating to all products by Fuller Industries as enforced by: ATF, CPSC, DOT (IATA, IMCO, UPS, US MAIL), EPA, FDA, OSHA, CUSTOMS and FTC
- Maintain wastewater point source and air permits
- Poison Control data base maintenance
- Lead the Hazardous Waste Management
- Must maintain and communicate information on the physical and health hazards of Fuller Industries raw materials and finished goods
- Maintain, permit, and inventory for specially denatured alcohol to Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms; submit required forms regarding use of alcohol in new formulas, and annual report
- Make recommendations to Traffic, Shipping and Customer Service regarding the correct shipping name and hazard class; provide available legal package specification options to Product Engineering and Shipping
- Oversee the spill control plans with ties to hazardous waste system, CERCLA, Process Safety Management, EPA - RMP and other SPCC requirements
- Create and File Reports for the Community Right-to-know (SARA 302, 304, 311, 312, 313) Programs

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- A degree in the sciences or engineering perferred. Academic training should consist of (in order of importance) chemistry, biology, engineering, toxicology, and law.
- Two years of experience is preferable in an industrial setting applying in a laboratory, technical or regulatory position.
- The noise level is usually moderate unless in certain areas of the plant where hearing protection is required
- Training will be provided to personnel who may occasionally wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Clean and temperature good
- Standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Talking or hearing.
- Occasional walking.
- Stoop; kneel; crouch.
- Lifting/handling: exert up to 50 pounds occasionally; up to 20 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Vision: color; close; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
