Category: Certified Support Job Function: Certified Support Staff Department: Brookview Elementary SummaryWorks with teachers and students in Title I schools to improve the quality of teaching and students learning in any of the core content areas (reading, language arts, math, science, or social studies) with a focus on reading/language arts or math. This position is grant-funded and thereby staffed year-to-year Essential Duties
Assists teachers and grade level teams with the implementation of the Georgia Standards of Excellence
Works with teachers to improve classroom management and climate through the implementation of effective instructional methods
Analyzes student and teacher test data to determine teaching and learning effectiveness for each concept taught
Analyzes student test data and advise teachers and appropriate staff of trends, outcomes, needs and effective practices
Recommends changes to current practices, approaches,
methods, strategies, and assessments as needed Demonstrates, monitors, and evaluates the application of effective teaching strategies
Recommends best practices to achieve the desired student learning outcomes
Serves as the liaison for professional learning between Title I/Curriculum and the school
Coordinates site-based professional learning activities as needed
Conducts professional development at the school as needed
Informs faculty of professional development opportunities
Participates in periodic professional learning activities
Performs other Title I duties as assigned by the Principal or Title I Grant Manager
Required EducationFor Elementary: Bachelor’s Degree , preferably in Elementary Education For Middle or High School Math: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Mathematics; For Secondary Reading and Language Arts: Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Reading, English or Language Arts Certification/LicensureFor Elementary: Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education for Elementary School Middle School Math: Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in Middle Grades Mathematics (4-8) or Mathematics (6-12) Middle School Reading or Language Arts: Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in Reading (P-12), Middle Grades Reading (4-8), Middle School Language Arts (4-8), or English (6-12) Completion of LETRS training preferred for Middle School Reading and Language Arts High School Math: Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in Mathematics (6-12) High School Reading and Language Arts: Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in Reading (P-12) or English (6-12) Completion of LETRS training preferred for High School Reading and Language Arts Experience QualificationsMinimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must have professional knowledge and proven use of effective teaching strategies and professional knowledge of curriculum-based assessments
Strong desire to work with at-risk students and developing teachers
Ability to communicate with adults and student learners at all ability levels
High technological skill level required
Demonstrated ability to work with personal and confidential information
Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects and responsibilities
Must be able to collaborate effectively with District and school personnel, the general public, and work with diverse groups of people
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
