OPERATIONS MANAGER – Des Moines, IA

SALARY RANGE: $110,000 – 120,000 (boe) annual bonus

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

•Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering, training and continuous improvement experience required

•Certified SQF Practitioner

•Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in production and supervision - Food Manufacturing

•Experience leading, motivating and developing teams and succession planning - 300 employees

•Knowledge of plant operations and production scheduling

•Excellent English communication; verbal, written and presentation skills

•Effective computer skills in MS Office Suite and SAP

•Preparing and managing department budgets

•Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusion

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

•This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value

•Ensures that all policies, procedures, and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability

•This position is responsible for all aspects of product manufacturing within the department, coordinating workflow between all departments

•This person is responsible for continuous improvement of process efficiencies, people and food safety and quality

•Ensures regulatory compliance at all times

•Lead and participate in plant and corporate continuous improvement teams

•Develop and/or maintain the programs necessary to ensure all employees are properly trained in order to meet company objectives relating to human safety, product quality and safety, human relations and professional development

•Actively participate in the management team to promote safety, facility growth and team development

•Prepare department budgets and monitor expenditures

•Cooperates with all departments to assure a coordinated work relationship exists at all times

•Enforces all company policies in a fair and consistent manner

•Encourages employees to utilize the open-door policy which will improve production, quality, safety and/or control costs of production

•Develop and maintain an understanding of the operational processes associated with the manufacturing facility

•Keeps Plant Manager and Human Resource Manager informed on operating and/or employee problems, which may require their attention or knowledge

•Ensures consistent communications and monthly department meetings

•Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety

•Responsible for leading RedZone meetings and ensure that huddles are held

•May make decisions and perform the job responsibilities of the Operations Manager in their absence

•Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products

•Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained in order to maintain SQF Level 3 certification.
