We are a small and closely collaborative team with a big mission and vision to reach Arizona’s most vulnerable children with the magic of Pet Therapy. Volunteers and their pets are the heart of our work with vulnerable children in schools and partner nonprofit organizations. Your primary role, as the Program Coordinator – Southern AZ, will consist of the recruitment, training, orientation, and on-going supervision of volunteers and all their program activities in Southern Arizona as well as building and fostering relationships with nonprofit and school partners where volunteers are placed. In addition, this role will collaboratively build and improve systems, procedures, and policies as programs and volunteer training are being developed. The role will also help to plan and execute volunteer appreciation events and community awareness events. This role involves using your own car for travel. The candidate must be a self-starter who is flexible, team-oriented, and enjoys working in a dynamic growing State-wide organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES
The Program Coordinator – Southern AZ is responsible for the recruitment, training, retention, and on-going supervision of Southern Arizona volunteers and their program activities. This position will also represent Gabriel’s Angels in Southern Arizona by speaking at events and meeting with stakeholders. This position will also contribute to building and improving systems and procedures for volunteer management and data tracking, as well as coordinating volunteer skills building. This position will coordinate volunteer handlers and their therapy dogs from initial contact through training, onboarding, placement at a facility, and ongoing work with vulnerable children. This includes, but is not limited to, conducting orientations of interested volunteers, obtaining required Gabriel’s Angels paperwork, therapy dog registration paperwork and all that is required for the volunteer file in an online volunteer management system, conducting volunteer trainings, and supervising volunteers in trauma-informed program activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid driver's license, auto insurance and ability to frequently travel within Southern Arizona, and up to Phoenix for regular training & team meetings.
Remote Work Environment: Currently Gabriel’s Angels is operating with a hybrid of remote and in-office work. This position will be primarily remote. In-office/in-person presence at the Phoenix, AZ office is required as needed a minimum of 1 day a month. Frequent in-person presence is required throughout Southern AZ accompanying volunteers on visits at schools and partners. This position includes some evenings and weekends.
