Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the VDI Administrator and to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.

As a VDI Administrator, you will collaborate with a team to support mission initiatives in a secure, isolated computing environment. Your primary responsibilities include installing, maintaining, and supporting VMware Horizon-based virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions, ensuring high availability, performance, scalability, and reliability. You will develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, technical designs, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Additionally, you will monitor and optimize the VDI environment, perform capacity planning, troubleshoot and proactively address issues, maintain security compliance, and manage hardware lifecycles. Effective collaboration with peers, internal customers, and management is essential to create a resilient and standardized IT infrastructure.

Candidates must have a strong understanding of computer software and hardware systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

Skills / Experience Required

Key Responsibilities

  • 4 years professional IT experience
  • Work with a team supporting mission initiatives in a secure, isolated computing environment
  • Work with peers, internal customers, and management to create a highly available, resilient, and standardized IT infrastructure
  • Install, maintain, and support virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions based on VMware Horizon
  • Configure and optimize VDI environment to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability of mission critical assets
  • Develop and maintain documentation, technical designs, deployment guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the VDI environments
  • Ensure capacity planning and resource optimization are continually performed
  • Monitor the VDI environments to ensure availability, performance, and security compliance are all met
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise as well as look for issues proactively
  • Maintain a secure computing environment, including adherence to a backup schedule, patching of all systems, and applying applicable STIG settings
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, and within the wider RGNext business units
  • Maintain hardware lifecycle as it relates to the VDI environment by deploying replacement systems in a timely fashion
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolution for hardware and software issues
  • Knowledge of various software platforms including Windows Server, VMware, MECM, Microsoft Office, Trellix HBSS/ESS, RHEL Linux, SharePoint, TCP/IP networking, and Microsoft Active Directory

Education / Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or Computer Engineering degree or degree in Mathematics or Engineering
  • Relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education for this position
  • DOD 8570.01 IAT II certification required to start (e.g, Security ). Must be able to obtain a DODM 8140.03 advanced level certification before government deadline (Advanced: FITSP-O or GICSP or CASP or CISA or SSCP).

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and that may include lifting to thirty pounds, as necessary.
