Job Description
Summer Instructors bring to life Galileo's curriculum, teaching a different theme each week, thoughtfully created by our year-round curriculum design team.
We believe that our approach to learning isn’t merely a philosophy it is a tool that will help shape the worldview of future innovators.
This role is seasonal full-time, working Monday - Friday.
YOU WILL
Facilitate design challenges and outdoor activities for camper groups of up to 28 kids at a time, using Galileo’s innovative project-based curriculum : Create a welcoming and engaging learning environment within your learning space.
Prepare your learning space and manage supplies for projects daily.Facilitate Galileo Curriculum as designed for up to three unique rotations : Innovator’s Studio, Idea Lab, and Outdoor campers across diverse age groups, ability levels and support needs.
Depending on the size of your camp, you may specialize with one age group or teach multiple age groups (one age group per rotation).
Provide exemplary customer service to each camper, family and guardian at all times : Champion a restorative justice approach to camper behavior management and work with camp leadership to support each campers’ needs.
Enthusiastically greet all campers and guardians, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all.Support check-in / check-out to ensure efficiency and accurate daily attendance.
Communicate with families as needed about their camper’s campers maintain positive energy and excitement throughout the day and ensure a safe hand-off to guardians.
Enthusiastically and collaboratively participate in all camp activities : Collaborate with your teammates to plan, set up, and run daily activities.
Supervise and lead campers to ensure safety at all times during ceremonies, all-camp activities, snack and lunch.Promote a positive camp experience at all times with your energy and camp spirit.
Actively participate in camp chants, songs and perform skits in opening and closing out opportunities to lend your skills and experience to spark joy at camp.
Receive ongoing coaching to grow your instruction and operations experience : Receive paid online training before camp begins to introduce you to the innovation education movement, the Galileo Innovation Approach, and company policies and best 2 in-person days of paid training where you will meet your team, set up camp, and participate in training.
Further develop your classroom management and instructional skills under the guidance of camp leadership through frequent feedback and supplemental training throughout the summer.

Applicants with less than 4 continuous weeks of availability will not be considered for this role.

SCHEDULE
All camps operate Monday - Friday. Staff are also required to attend two pre-camp set-up days, which vary by site and may be scheduled between Thursday - Sunday before camp opens.
Shifts vary by position and location and can start as early as 7 : 00 and end as late as 6 : 00
