Gallagher Construction Company is Hiring a Construction Superintendent Near Waco, TX

Traveling Superintendent:

The Traveling Construction Superintendent is a vital leader in the construction industry responsible for overseeing and coordinating all on-site activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. Their role involves managing labor, contractors, materials, and equipment while maintaining effective communication with project stakeholders. Housing provided, Truck allowance, Gas card, PTO, Holiday pay and competitive benefits package.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position may have up to 3 who directly report to them.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Communication:

  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain communication with stakeholders providing regular updates on project progress and addressing concerns promptly.
  • Team Leadership: Strong leadership skills, including the ability to mentor, develop, and motivate a diverse team of construction professionals.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborative approach to work effectively with cross-functional teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Contractor Relations: Maintain communication with vendors, suppliers, manufacturers, and contractors to coordinate orders and deliveries.

Scope:

  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills to motivate and guide project teams, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Team Meeting: Actively lead or participate in any Owner/Architect/Construction Management Agent (OAC), coordination, trade contractor meeting, scheduling, and any other meetings.

Site Management: Supervise all on-site activities, including mobilization, plan for site access, staging areas, security, construction, closeout, contractor work, and material deliveries, to adhere to the project plans and specifications.

  • Site Organization: Maintain an organized and clean construction site, optimizing workflow and safety.
  • Schedule Management: Collaborate with the Project Manager to maintain and update project schedules, 3-week look ahead, and establish high priorities and milestones.
  • Contractor Management: Coordinate contractor activities, monitor their performance, and ensure they meet project requirements and deadlines.
  • Quality Control: Mastery of quality assurance efforts by conducting inspections, verifying work meets specifications, and addressing deficiencies.
  • Issue Resolution: Address project-related issues and challenges promptly, seeking guidance from the Senior Project Manager and/or Vice President of Construction as needed and keeping them fully informed in a timely fashion regarding any to all problem areas on the project.
  • Regulatory Standards: Ensure projects adhere to all relevant building codes, safety regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Construction Materials: Mastery of common construction materials, their properties, and uses.
  • Construction Equipment: Mastery of construction equipment, tools, and their proper usage.
  • Material and Equipment Management: Manage the procurement, delivery, and tracking of construction materials and equipment.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing project needs, handle unexpected challenges, and adjust project plans accordingly.
  • Documentation: Review, expedite, and monitor project documents (reports, schedules, invoices, ASIs, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes/agendas, daily reports, change orders, punchlists, inspections, closeout, project-related correspondence, and stakeholder presentations.)
  • Report Generation: Prepare project status reports, updates, and presentations for project managers and stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement : Implement best practices, lessons learned, and process enhancements to drive continuous improvement across projects.
  • Other Duties: As assigned by Management.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

Knowledge:

  1. Construction Processes: In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, processes, and industry best practices.
  2. Blueprint Reading: Mastery in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
  3. Building Codes and Regulations: Knowledge of local, state, and national building codes, permits, and regulations that govern construction projects.
  4. Safety Procedures: Knowledge of safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), hazard identification, and adherence to safety guidelines.
  5. Construction Safety: Knowledge of potential construction site hazards, including electrical, fall, and equipment-related risks.
  6. Collaboration: Strong team collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
  7. Project Documentation: Knowledge of maintaining accurate project documentation, contracts, drawings, schedules, and change orders.
  8. Project Management Software: Familiarity with project management software and tools for scheduling, task management, and communication.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Experience: 5 years of experience as a Superintendent or related roles in the construction industry.
