Gallagher Construction is seeking a Senior Project Manager who is a motivated, self-starter to join our highly respected construction team. Gallagher Construction provides construction management services for publicly funded projects.

Senior Project Manager - Construction Travel Required: 50-75%

As a Construction Senior Project Manager, you are a highly experienced and strong leader responsible for overseeing multiple construction projects from inception to completion. This pivotal role demands a deep understanding of construction processes, regulations, and project management. The Senior Construction Project Manager provides strategic direction, leads project teams, makes high-level decisions, mentors junior staff, and collaborates with executives and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position may have up to 15 who directly report to them.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Communication:

  • Stakeholder Communication: Oversee and support the project team's regular communication with stakeholders, providing updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor project teams, contractors, and vendors, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborative approach to work effectively with cross-functional teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Contractor Relations: Oversee and support the project team's communication with vendors, suppliers, manufacturers, and contractors to coordinate orders and deliveries.

Scope:

  • Leadership: Provide strong leadership and strategic direction to project teams, contractors, and stakeholders, fostering collaboration and ensuring project objectives are met.
  • Project Planning: Oversee and support the project teams with comprehensive project plans through construction, and post-construction, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with project goals and stakeholder requirements.
  • Site Management: Oversee and support the project teams with site logistics, including layout, access, and coordination of contractors and suppliers.
  • Progress Tracking: Oversee and support the project teams with project milestones, tasks, and deliverables, addressing any deviations and ensuring project timelines are met.
  • Resource Allocation: Oversee and support the project teams with allocating and managing resources effectively, including labor, equipment, and materials, to meet project objectives.
  • Issue Resolution: Oversee and support the project teams with project-related challenges promptly, collaborating with stakeholders to find solutions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Oversee and support the project teams with the project's adherence to all relevant building codes, safety regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Risk Management: Oversee and support the project teams with potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring smooth project progress.
  • Issue Resolution: Oversee and support the project teams with project-related issues and challenges promptly, seeking guidance from project management as needed.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing project needs, handle unexpected challenges, and adjust project plans accordingly.

Quality Control: Oversee and support the project teams with project quality and ensure compliance with industry standards and stakeholder specifications.

  • Environmental Considerations: Oversee and support the project teams with awareness of environmental regulations and sustainable construction practices.
  • Budget Oversight: Oversee and support the project teams with project costs, expenses, change orders, and allowances, making adjustments to stay within budget limits.
  • Documentation: Oversee and support the project teams with the reviewing, expediting, and monitoring of documents (reports, schedules, invoices, ASIs, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes/agendas, daily reports, change orders, punchlists, inspections, closeout, and stakeholder presentations).
  • Reporting: Oversee and support the project teams with project status reports, updates, and presentations for management and stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement : Implement best practices, lessons learned, and process enhancements to drive continuous improvement across projects.
  • Other Duties: As assigned by Management.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

Construction Processes: In-depth understanding of construction methodologies, processes, and best practices.

Project Management: In-depth understanding of project management principles, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.

Blueprint Reading: In-depth understanding in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.

Building Codes and Regulations: In-depth understanding of local, state, and national building codes, permits, and regulations that govern construction projects.

Safety Procedures: In-depth understanding of safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), hazard identification, and adherence to safety guidelines.

Construction Safety: In-depth understanding of potential construction site hazards, including electrical, fall, and equipment-related risks.

Collaboration: Strong team collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, contractors, and stakeholders.

Project Documentation: In-depth understanding of maintaining accurate project documentation, contracts, drawings, schedules, and change orders.

Project Management Software: In-depth understanding of project management software and tools for scheduling, task management, and communication.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, a related field, or equivalent field experience.
  • Experience: 10 years of experience in the construction industry or related fields, demonstrating a grasp of project management principles and superintendent expertise.
