Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Director of Product Management, the Video Editor assumes the responsibility for capturing diverse experiences at Gallaudet University through engaging video scripts and top-tier editing techniques.
Job Description:
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to create bilingual content for social media, online platforms, curriculum, course content, modular learning, and website materials.
  • Supports the Office of the Chief Bilingual Officer in producing innovative digital video content.
  • Encompasses conceptualizing narratives, overseeing production, and managing end-to-end video projects.
  • Creates creative and insightful video scripts and storyboards, covering diverse topics and target audiences.
  • Produces and captures bilingual videos in American Sign Language and English, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity.
  • Classifies the content and context in a clear and understandable way, allowing users to find what they need with minimum effort.
  • Organizes and labels data including websites, blogs, videos, educational resources and other digital mediums of information.
  • Manages ASL and English bilingual content through a content management system (learning, document, or enterprise).
  • Annotates videos and other media content using established metadata standards within a cloud-based asset management system.
  • Designs, presents and fosters an efficient and effective understanding of the technical information through workflows, sitemaps, visuals such as infographics, wireframes or other documentation.
  • Develops compelling, accurate, and engaging data visualizations that organize statistics, research, design process and other information for a variety of media (digital, mobile, and print).
  • Plans, supports, and executes video productions, including operating equipment and editing using Adobe products.
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and ensures the functionality of video and lighting equipment.
  • Engages in pre-production activities, conducts field-based video shoots, and sets up necessary equipment.
  • Executes video post-production tasks, including editing, graphics, and special effects, to enhance content quality.
  • Supports live events, webinars, and technical media needs, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality production.
  • Trains and supports staff, students, and collaborators in video production techniques and best practices.
  • Stays updated on industry trends, technology advancements, and best practices to improve video quality and efficiency.
  • Performs additional duties as needed to support the overall goals and objectives of the video production team.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive and supportive working relationship with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Demonstrates a genuine commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and participates in activities and workshops to foster continuous learning.
  • Serves as a mandatory reporter under Title IX; and commits to completing Title IX training and other compliance requirements on an annual basis.
  • Prioritizes safety in the workplace as a collective responsibility for the well-being of employees and fosters a culture of safety that is integral to our success, including strict adherence to safety procedures and protocols, as well as promptly reporting any safety hazards or incidents.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience within video production, content creation, or a related field.
  • Ability to communicate in American Sign Language.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a higher education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of best practices in developing and leading video projects and content delivery especially for course websites.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and make adjustments while working both collaboratively and independently on complex projects.
  • Strong knowledge of basic production best practices, creative processes, and relevant equipment.Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently and exercise professional judgment.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects and workflows in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong ability to function well under pressure and meet project deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience with Adobe Products (Premiere Pro, After Effects, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) and video cameras.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and across University departments, outside constituents and groups.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.

  • This is a revenue-funded position.
  • The selected candidates are required to provide samples during the interview.
