Job DescriptionPosition Objective: The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Belonging (DEIAB) Director will work in partnership with DIR Senior Leadership to support and advance the NIH, NHLBI, and DIR missions while supporting in reshaping the environment in alignment with DEIAB principles.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor an integrated DEIAB strategy/strategic plan that clearly defines DEIAB and aligns with the broader organizational mission and goals.
  • Create metrics and promote the measurable integration and accountability of DEIAB initiatives.
  • Engage with and secure commitment from leadership on central DEIAB-focused strategies and initiatives for immediate impact and with long-term sustainability.
  • Leads and/or supports cross-functional working groups and teams on DEIAB-related projects, efforts, and initiatives.
  • Utilize analytics to derive data-driven insights that will shape DEIAB strategies, programs, projects, initiatives, and activities. Create strategies to build equity across all business practices and policies.
  • Continuously monitor, evaluate, and report the effectiveness of DEIAB programs, identifying areas for corrective action and suggesting areas for enhancement.
  • Stay informed of global DEIAB trends, ensuring DIR's initiatives align with current best practices.
  • Help cultivate a culture that values innovation within the realm of DEIAB.
  • Explore and assimilate pioneering DEIAB best practices from various industries and sectors.
  • Introduce and lead projects that position DIR at the forefront of DEIAB practices, solidifying its reputation as an organization that values and centers diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging.
  • Proactively identify and address potential roadblocks, risks, and issues.
  • Apply a continuous learning approach to drive improvements in innovative solutions based on input from early adopters and gap analysis.
  • Design and launch comprehensive DEIAB programs aligned with DIR's goals and objectives.
  • Develop and provide training, coaching and informational presentations for employees and community members in alignment with the DEIAB Office programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure cohesive integration of DEIAB elements into existing programs.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine programs based on feedback, results, and evolving DEIAB best practices.
  • Provide thought leadership and expertise for the full spectrum of DEIAB, including program development and delivery, succession planning, strategy, talent attraction and retention, organization design, and change management interventions.
  • Help develop and sustain the capabilities necessary to accomplish DEIAB goals and the DIR mission.
  • Work closely with leadership and teams to understand the potential impacts of changes and create strategies to manage resistance and maintain cooperative and efficient relations.
  • Develop and implement change management plans that ensure the successful adoption of DEIAB initiatives.
  • Engage various stakeholders, representative of the DIR population, to ensure alignment, communication, and commitment throughout change initiatives.
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of change interventions, refining strategies as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (e.g., Diversity and Inclusion, Social Sciences, Human Resources, Psychology)
Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong/effective communication skills - written, oral, group facilitation, and analytical
  • Dynamic personality with a high level of interpersonal skills in order to deal effectively and persuasively with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment and prioritize activities
  • Proven expertise in the implementation and management of DEIAB programs
  • Experience with developing, guiding, and supporting teams with DEIAB concepts, proposals, and plans.
  • Extensive knowledge of social justice, racial, ethnic, sex, and gender equity and anti-racism, as well as belonging strategies and best practices with an intersectional lens
  • Knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
