QualificationsRequired
  • Master’s degree in the relevant educational field
  • Valid Texas Administrator Certification or other appropriate certifications
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certification
  • Bilingual and/or ESL Education Certification/Endorsement
Preferred
  • Fluency in English and another language preferred
Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom experience
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Experience in project design, implementation, and monitoring of LPAC operations
  • Experience planning, developing, and implementing professional development programs Experience leading TEKS-based or ELPS-based assessment programs, including design and delivery
  • Experience working with district departments to integrate system-wide activities to meet targets Ability to interpret data to evaluate program implementation effectiveness
  • Proficiency with technology, including multimedia technology
  • Proficiency with various Bilingual Education and ESL program designs (PK-12)
  • Strong organizational, communication, leadership, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate with teachers, educational leaders, school trustees, parents, and community leaders Ability to function as a member of a high-performing team
  • Ability to work well with a diverse population
Major Responsibilities And Duties
  • Provides guidance and leadership for the academic and linguistic success of Emergent Bilingual students, including those served in other programs, such as Gifted and Talented, Magnet Programs, and Special Education.
  • Collaborate with the Elementary Coordinator to organize and plan for state-mandated and department driven summer school programs.
  • Assists the Director with the annual ESL/Bilingual waiver requirements, and federal and state improvement plans
  • Select, train, evaluate, supervise, provide feedback, and growth opportunities for the department compliance specialists and the district LPAC teachers.
  • Provides ongoing support for teachers listed on the annual ESL/Bilingual waiver to obtain necessary certifications.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to the EB Paraprofessionals to ensure EB students coding is correctly entered into the student data system.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, district mandates and guidelines effectively, as related to Emergent Bilingual students.
  • Responsibly utilize program personnel, funds, and available resources to enhance the instructional programs and ensure compliance.
  • Contributes to the development and updates of department/program manuals, required forms/documentation, and programmatic resources/materials
  • Designs and delivers professional development related to LPAC compliance, on a ongoing basis, and as required by federal, state, district mandates
  • Facilitates the development of comprehensive plans for achieving improvement goals required by federal and state accountability systems.
  • Uses appropriate data in collaboration with others to establish rigorous, concrete goals in the context of student achievement and programs serving Emergent Bilingual students.
  • Operationalizes high expectations for Emergent Bilingual students and assesses progress toward those expectations through performance assessments linked to clear standards.
  • Defines systemic implications of how change initiatives interact so Emergent Bilingual student success can be achieved across district and campus programs.
  • Assists in coordinating the development and implementation of innovative instructional programs serving Emergent Bilingual students to achieve identified needs.
  • Develops and implements processes for monitoring and evaluating programs and initiatives serving Emergent Bilingual students.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
