Garmin is Hiring a Marine Pro-Staff Field Specialist Near Olathe, KS

OverviewWe are seeking a full-time Marine Pro-Staff Field Specialist in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for learning, applying, and providing technical assistance, troubleshooting, repair and assisting with training Garmin marine Pro-Staff and dealers, OEMs, and end-users as well as being the sole Garmin contact during events.
Essential Functions
  • Support Garmin marine sponsored events and coordinate equipment as well as assist in installation and commissioning for Pro-Staff as required
  • Lead responsibility for managing Garmin’s small to medium size tournament sponsorship through full tournament cycle as sole point of contact while assessing and resolving issues for Garmin marine sponsored customers to ensure success during the tournament
  • Demonstrate knowledge in Boat systems and marine OEMs and in the specifications, capabilities, and operation of Garmin products within the marine product lines
  • Apply knowledge in the specifications, capabilities, and operation of Garmin marine products
  • Responsible for on-site technical support for Pro-Staff at tournaments and events
  • Lead for ensuring that Pro-Staff boats that are assigned are properly outfitted and in working order prior to and during tournaments
  • Troubleshoot/perform repairs on Pro-Staff equipment as required
  • Address/escalate product issues and partner with product support/engineering teams if issues occur to provide immediate and long term solutions
  • Must possess marine business segment passion
  • Partner with Pro-Staff Manager to determine appropriate Garmin marine equipment to outfit each pro-staff member based on the type of activities pro staff is engaged in (sailing, inland fishing, offshore fishing)
  • Place orders for each Pro-Staff member while ensuring to follow all processes and procedures
  • Perform quality checks to ensure Garmin equipment is installed properly, and functioning at the optimal level
  • Assist Regional Sales Managers and Marketing Managers in the delivery of presentation and technical support of Garmin products at dealers as required
  • Lead responsibility for ensuring that that Pro-Staff members meet contract requirements by monitoring performance at public appearances, tournaments, and other events
  • Partner/collaborate with engineering team to assist with development of new products and features based on Pro-Staff feedback
  • Learn, assist and develop an onsite training program for Pro-Staff members as relevant products are introduced
  • Provide on-site technical support and training of select Marine OEM’s in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to travel (75% of the time or greater)
  • Support new sponsorship programs with Pro-Staff as needed
  • Provide assistance and support to dealers and OEM’s in special events, regional shows, grand openings, etc.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field OR a minimum of 4 years experience supporting marine electronic equipment installation or troubleshooting experience
  • Must possess previous experience with marine electronics related to troubleshooting, repair or installation
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must demonstrate a superior customer-oriented attitude
  • Flexibility to travel (75% of time or greater)
  • Must be positive, detail/team oriented, possess problem solving abilities, is a multi-tasker, and has the ability to prioritize and work proactively/effectively/independently in a fast paced, challenging environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to safely operate a vehicle with a valid driver’s license
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a Marine OEM or installing dealer facility
  • Previous Garmin electronics installation experience and extensive knowledge of Garmin products
  • Experience participating in bass or other fishing tournaments as an amateur or a professional
  • Knowledge and work experience performing marine electronic equipment installation/troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of competitive marine products
  • Possess marine business segment passion
