Duties:

- Oversee and manage all aspects of the business
- Develop and implement strategies to improve overall efficiency
- Lead and motivate a team of employees
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers for stock replenishment
- Supervise assistant managers and provide guidance as needed
- Handle payroll processing and ensure accurate record-keeping
- Implement sales management techniques to drive revenue growth

Job Summary

The General Manager is an inspiring leader who supervises a designated travel center. They are responsible for coaching and leading the site to operate successfully and profitably. This individual will build and maintain a strong, dynamic leadership team by communicating a clear vision and providing direction on training and development, profitability, site maintenance, safety, etc. The General Manager ensures that every traveler leaves better than they arrived!

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Supervise the management team and overall operations of the designated location
  • Constantly demonstrate a professional demeanor with a high level of character, honesty, and integrity in conducting the business affairs of the sites; Inspire all team members to do the same
  • Establish and be responsible for goals to meet company objectives related to people, profit, safety, quality of service, and appearance of the locations
  • Coach, teach, and demonstrate sound customer service principles to all team members, including direct customer contact to resolve issues when needed
  • Partner with Market Manager and Human Resources to identify the best available customer service representative, whether internal or external; Review and advise team staffing levels; Develop management team and successors
  • Monitor key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement and clearly communicate opportunities to the District Manager and management team.
  • Ensures that programs are properly implemented and maintained to ensure the safety of customers and team members.
  • Assesses performance of PCMs, completes appraisals of direct reports and recommends advancement and merit increases.
  • Ensures all customer complaints are addressed promptly and develops ways to reduce or eliminate their reoccurrence. Actively solicits employee and customer input to improve location operations.
  • Ensures awareness and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations that impact operations.
  • Ensures accurate and timely completion and submission of reports, personnel records, timesheets, price surveys, and others as directed.
  • Supervises the total function of a travel center which operates 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
  • Leads team members to adequately and effectively maintain and safeguard Company property, equipment, funds, and merchandise and ensure all loss prevention and audit policies are properly executed.
  • Manages location operations while controlling operating expenses within established budgets.
  • Set an example of outstanding customer service.
  • Works with the Market Manager and management team to develop succession plans and ensures employees are provided with development opportunities for career growth.
  • Responsible for accurate forecasting of total site results and achieving budgeted goals, weekly, monthly, and yearly.
  • Must ensure all required training is completed within the required time frame of 90 days. This includes but is not limited to training required by federal/state/local law and regulations, training on company policy and procedures, and training for job skill

What we’d like to see:

  • An inspirational leader who sets the example
  • High School Diploma (or GED) required; Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in a leadership role preferred with proven positive results
  • Proficient planning and analytical skills (i.e. understanding the calculations on the P&L, coverage ratio, budget & expense report, etc.) – able to achieve positive financial results
  • Ability to perform all non-management functions to assist when needed.
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and operational understanding of POS software
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with appropriate insurance coverage and acceptable driving record

Pay: From $43,000.00 per year
