Job description
As a Medical Assistant you will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
Assists providers and nurses with patient care activities
Obtains accurate vital signs from the patient and reports abnormal findings verbally to nurse or provider
Accurately obtains health history and rectifies medication
Accurately enters documentation into the Electronic Health Record
Serves as translator between patient and healthcare provider when needed
Accurately completes patient information on laboratory requisitions and orders
Administers medications by oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal routes
Performs department specific procedures
Exhibits proficiency in obtaining vital signs, including manual blood pressure readings
Prepares patient charts, obtains records necessary for clinic consultations
Prepares orders and documents for outpatient and inpatient procedures and forwards to facilities
Refills patient medications using the guidelines of the prescribing physician or provider in accordance with practice policy
Keeps exam rooms and treatment areas well stocked and clean per infection control policies and procedures
Accurately utilizes medical equipment as trained
Maintains use of universal precautions at all times
Performs inventory and reports record of equipment and supplies needing replacement or repair to Nurse Manager
Scans patient medical information into the Electronic Health Record
Triages and responds to patient communications within practice policy
Schedules appointments
Takes phone messages
Travels to satellite offices as necessary
Respects and supports patient rights, practices principals of patient and employee confidentiality
