Gate City Charter School for the Arts seeks a kind, dedicated, and innovative 4/5 Grade Math and Science Classroom Teacher to provide well-rounded, comprehensive instruction, ensure a structured, energetic learning environment, and lead with a strong arts-integrated learning approach.

ABOUT GATE CITY CHARTER SCHOOL FOR ARTS:

Gate City Charter School for the Arts is a thriving public, chartered school located in Merrimack NH; we are committed to providing innovative educational experiences by integrating the arts into all academic disciplines. We house one classroom per grade level for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade, with one teacher and one educational assistant in each classroom. As a multi-grade level school we have the opportunity to create a strong sense of community and provide many opportunities for students of all ages to develop strong leadership skills. We aim to foster a creative, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment where students can develop their individual potential through both academic and artistic endeavors.

Gate City Charter School for the Arts uses an arts-integrated curriculum to develop dynamic, effective learning opportunities which inspire student excellence in academics and the arts and promote social-emotional growth. Through a variety of pathways, our students cultivate the knowledge, creativity, and inquisitive nature which will foster a love of learning. We use arts integration in every classroom as an approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach curriculum in accordance with school procedures and state standards and collaboratively with the teaching team. Develop lesson plans and maintain an organized learning space to ensure students’ academic success.
  • Develop an interesting and interactive classroom learning environment for students that fosters a love of learning and meets developmentally appropriate social emotional needs.
  • Use arts integration and project-based learning to accomplish instructional goals. Embrace the school’s mission and strive every day to reflect that mission in your classroom.
  • Use innovative instructional methodologies/materials to conduct classes in a proactive, stimulating, and effective manner.
  • Familiarity with the values and foundations of Responsive Classroom and Choose Love. Ability to implement these values in daily practice.
  • Maintain accurate student records such as progress reports, academic assessments, parent contacts, etc. as defined by school policy and administration.
  • Participate in curriculum planning, staff development, faculty meetings and other school activities as required.
  • Work collaboratively with school and district staff to best support students’ academic, and social emotional skills in an inclusive, respectful manner. Implement Individual Education Plan, 504, and Behavior Support Plans accommodations and supports including attending appropriate meetings.
  • Provide appropriate supervision of students inside and outside the classroom. Develop classroom behavioral standards to maintain a safe and disciplined environment within classrooms and the school.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Education or related field
  • Valid Teaching Certification- Preferred
  • Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Knowledge of subjects and developmental stages assigned, including current research.
  • Skill in effectively managing a classroom and student behavior.
  • Skill in communicating effectively, collaboratively, and respectfully with others.
  • Skill in modifying instruction for various student needs.
