Gates-Chili Central School District is Hiring a Coordinator of Assessment and Data Near Rochester, NY

Position: Coordinator of Assessment and Data
Purpose: The Coordinator of Assessment and Data is integral in promoting a data-driven culture within the school district to enhance educational outcomes and equity. This position focuses on developing and implementing comprehensive assessment systems and effectively utilizing data to inform instruction and support student achievement. By leveraging assessment data, the Coordinator supports the district's program in maximizing academic performance for all students.
Compensation/Pay Range*: $82,000 based on experience
Benefits*:Qualifies for District contribution to Health/Vision and/or Dental Insurance
Qualifies for Paid Personal Time, Paid Sick Time, and Paid Vacation Time
Schedule*: Full-time 12-month
Essential Functions
  • Assessment:
  • Responsible for the District assessment program, including the preparation, administration, scoring, and security of all New York State and District-wide assessments.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive assessment system that incorporates various types of assessment tools and processes to evaluate student learning and educational outcomes.
  • Lead in collaboration with teachers and administrators in the creation, design, maintenance, and use of assessments aligned with District guidelines and expectations.
  • Manage and train staff in the use of instructional assessment tools (Acadience, iReady, eDoctrina) to ensure their effective implementation and alignment with district goals and timelines.
  • Act as the liaison between the District and the New York State Education Department Office of State Assessment (OSA).
  • Support the new staff orientation program by acquainting instructional staff with assessments, assessment analysis, and the use of assessments to inform instruction.
  • Data:
  • Provide leadership and guidance in the use of District-wide student data to improve student achievement and decision-making.
  • Define, develop, and implement comprehensive district-wide data systems, establishing databases and structures for student achievement analysis.
  • Track and monitor student data relative to progress and achievement measures, disseminating information and providing consultation to district and building teams to collect, interpret, and create systems for data collection to monitor progress towards goals.
  • Track and monitor student data for trends related to inequities across various subgroups, including inequities and/or disproportionality relative to race, gender, disability, socioeconomics, etc. so that the district may use this data to inform strategies to address the inequity or disproportionality.
  • Work collaboratively with district and building administration to develop and publish a District-wide assessment calendar.
  • Provide professional learning for administration and staff on interpreting data, aligning with a data analysis protocol, and planning and implementing professional learning on using data to inform instruction.
  • Generate and communicate the analysis of all assessment results in grades P-12, presenting data to the Board of Education, administration, staff, and the community as requested.
  • Support attendance monitoring and reporting in collaboration with building leadership and attendance aides.
  • Resource Management:
  • In collaboration with the Data Management Specialist, oversee the student management system (Schooltool) to ensure student accountability, accurate reporting, efficient data entry, and alignment across all buildings.
  • Provide professional learning and support to stakeholders on the use of Schooltool, covering processes such as data dashboards or scheduling.
  • Collaborate with the data teams, including MAARS, the Regional Information Center (RIC), and DATAG, to ensure compliance, accountability, and cohesion within internal data systems.

  • Comprehensive understanding of student management systems and their role in data accountability and reporting.
  • Proficiency in assessment program management, including preparation, administration, scoring, and security protocols for assessments.
  • Familiarity with data systems and structures for student achievement analysis and decision-making.
Qualifications ProfileCertification/License, Education & Experience:
  • A minimum of five (5) years of successful professional employment experience in education, with at least two (2) years of prior administrative experience preferred.
  • Completion of Masters Program with degree in education administration, data science, organizational systems, and/or other related field.
  • Successful experience in working with a diverse community.
  • Experience in working with New York State Education Department’s Office of State Assessment, SchoolTool, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and instructional assessment tools preferred.
  • Training in Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education (CR-SE) preferred.
  • Valid New York State certification as a School District Administrator (SDA) or Civil Service Title.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
Demands, Hazards: Works in standard office and school building environments.
Equipment: Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel: Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
