Gates-Chili Central School District is Hiring a Coordinator of Recruitment, Hiring and Retention Near Rochester, NY

Position: Coordinator of Recruitment, Hiring and Retention
Purpose: Works under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Labor Relations to recruit, onboard, and retain a highly qualified workforce. The Coordinator of Recruitment, Hiring and Retention will work to design and implement processes for recruiting and retaining talent that reflects the student population that GCCSD serves. The Coordinator of Recruitment, Hiring and Retention will work to uphold law and policy related to creating and maintaining an atmosphere that is free from discrimination and harassment.
Compensation/Pay Range*: $82,000 based on experience
Benefits*:Qualifies for District contribution to Health/Vision and/or Dental Insurance
Qualifies for Paid Personal Time, Paid Sick Time, and Paid Vacation Time
Schedule*: Full-time 12-month
Essential Functions
  • Recruitment:
  • Takes lead in developing sustainable strategies to build and maintain workforce, including:
    • utilizing digital and other media resources,
    • attending job fairs and other recruitment events (including travel as needed to various local, state and national recruitment events),
    • organizing GCCSD job fairs,
    • developing networks with community and staff,
    • and developing other strategic recruitment partners and outlets.
  • Focuses on recruitment of diverse candidates that are more reflective of GCCSD’s student population.
  • Works closely with local Colleges and Universities to create partnerships and pipelines for future recruitment in the educational field.
  • Works with partners within the GCCSD community and staff in developing work opportunities in education.
  • Works closely with GCCSD’s Communications team to develop and update effective recruitment materials.
  • Oversees internal and external job postings and manages Frontline Recruit and Hire in consultation with other HR Department staff.
  • Hiring:
    • Assists in developing and coordinating a supportive and accessible hiring experience for all candidates.
    • Works to develop and maintain a hiring process that is culturally responsive and that identifies and minimizes implicit bias.
    • Assists in the review of all applications, development of hiring timelines, screens candidates, develop interview questions, facilitates interview teams and selection process, serves on interview team, where appropriate.
    • Oversees Frontline Recruit and Hire system with respect to hiring process/documentation in consultation with other HR Department staff.
  • Onboarding:
    • Conducts onboarding meeting with new staff and assists in creation of new staff systems and materials for distribution.
    • Facilitates coordination between HR, position supervisors and new employees to ensure a supportive onboarding experience.
    • Works closely with the Director of Student and Staff Success regarding New Staff Orientation, Spartan Way Training, mentoring and support of new staff.
    • Oversees Frontline Central onboarding process and documentation transfer in consultation with other HR Department staff.
    • Oversees the creation of network and access to district systems for new district staff in collaboration with the Technology Department.
  • Retention:
    • Collaborates with key staff to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all GCCSD employees.
    • Works to help build and sustain a positive work culture.
    • Conducts exit interviews with outgoing staff to continuously look for way to improve.
    • Assists in the creation of and support of learning opportunities for staff to support a culturally responsive learning environment.
  • Other Duties:
    • Assists in contract negotiations and union meetings as needed.
    • Assists in meeting with staff as needed.
    • Assists in providing in-person trainings and in oversight of online training modules.
    • Serves as GCCSD’s secondary Title IX Coordinator.
    • Assists in investigations, as needed.
    • All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of current best practices in the field of human resources.
  • Knowledge of public K-12 systems and concepts.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education, staff and students.
  • Knowledge of the Gates Chili Strategic Plan for Equity and the goals of the district.
  • Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students and families.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance, professional growth and cultural awareness.
  • Ability to engage culturally diverse staff, students and families.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications ProfileCertification/License, Education & Experience:
  • A minimum of five (5) years of successful professional employment experience in education.
  • Completion of Masters Program with degree in education administration, human resources, organizational systems, mental health, communications and/or other related field.
  • Successful experience in working with a diverse community.
  • Valid New York State certification as a School District Administrator (SDA) or Civil Service Title.
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations concerning education and labor/employment matters.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
Demands, Hazards: Works in standard office and school building environments.
Equipment: Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel: Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Travel to recruitment events both in and out of state required.
