Job Title: MS/HS Photography Teacher

Reports To: Principal

Job Overview: Gateway Christian Schools is looking for a High School Chemistry teacher who is a committed follower of Jesus, called to Christian education and has experience integrating faith and learning in the classroom. This position involves guiding students through a variety of courses in photography and film across different educational levels. Responsibilities may include teaching foundational photography skills to middle school students, exploring the art and techniques of filmmaking with high school students, and fostering creativity and technical proficiency in both mediums.

As a member of the Gateway OneTeam, you will support and demonstrate an understanding of the church’s mission: living the Jesus-centered mission. Possessing a character that reflects biblical godliness, demonstrating a meaningful personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and active involvement in a local body of Christian believers are key qualifications.

Job Status: Part-time

Exempt Status: Exempt

Salary Range: $14,150 - $27,550/annually

Responsibilities and Duties

Planning and Teaching:

  • Develops a curriculum map for each course taught where learning objectives are aligned with WA state graduation requirements
  • Prepares detailed lesson plans
  • Uses a variety of teaching methodologies to create an engaging and safe classroom setting where all students are held to high expectations
  • Incorporate technology in meaningful ways into instruction and learning

Grading:

  • Utilize Renweb for inputting all assignments, tests, quizzes, and projects in a timely manner, using the grading scale provided by the school.
  • Keeps an accurate record of all grades for each student.
  • Uses Microsoft TEAMS Assignments for document all homework assignments and for communication with students.

Classroom Management:

  • Keeps an accurate record of all attendance and tardiness for each student.
  • Maintains discipline in the classroom to ensure maximum learning
  • Always keep an emergency lesson plan and current substitute folder in case of an unexpected absence

Communication:

  • Communicates with parents on an “as needed” basis regarding their student’s academic or behavioral status in the class.
  • Returns phone calls and emails within 24 hours.
  • Keep an accurate record of all communications with parents.
  • Advises the administration as soon as plans to be away from the classroom are being considered.

Meetings and Events:

  • Attends all in-services, department meetings, and school events as scheduled.
  • Coordinates field trips and special events, as needed.
  • Attends student retreats every year, as scheduled by the Administration.
  • Performs any other duties that may be assigned.

Education Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of teaching experience at MS or HS level and a proven background in photography.
