Counselor Supervisor of Community Corrections - St. Louis, MO

Location: St. Louis Outpatient- 1430 Olive Street, Suite 300 St. Louis, MO 63103

Position Type: Full Time

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 8am-5pm (some evenings)

What You Will Do:

  • In addition to regularly performing duties of Counselor II, supervises other counselors, and guides and directs activities and operations of assigned treatment program.
  • Plans and schedules work time and caseload for assigned staff, and audits client records and documentation.
  • Responsible for orienting, training and developing assigned staff.
  • Interprets and enforces area Policies and Procedures and assists in the development of corrective actions.
  • Serves as resource to assigned staff in identifying and resolving complex case problems.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, criminal justice, mental health or substance abuse counseling or related field; or high school diploma and combination of work experience and training.
  • Ability to perform assessment, treatment planning, and counseling; provide intensive services for some complex cases; and plan, guide, oversee, and evaluate the work of others; at a level normally acquired two years prior experience in substance abuse field with supervisory training.
  • Minimum of six months treatment experience, and knowledge of up to date techniques and modalities, and case management, in a corrections or adult residential treatment program required.
  • Current certification as a Certified Reciprocal Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CRADC)or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Missouri. Must obtain Clinical Supervision training offered by the Missouri Certification Board within 6 months of hire.
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge of the principles of growth and development for the client population; and is able to assess and interpret client data, identifying individual client needs and providing care appropriate to the developmental stage of the clients served.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to oversee and motivate others; encourage and support clients through often difficult phases of recovery; provide effective counseling through appropriate empathy, support, intervention, direction, and conflict resolution; interact effectively with client family members; and maintain effective contacts with outside agencies and referral sources or services.
  • Analytical abilities necessary to plan and schedule the work of others, conduct comprehensive assessments, prepare and evaluate treatment plans, provide counseling and case management, and complete progress evaluations and related reports.
  • Typing ability and working knowledge of word processing software in order to complete required forms, reports and correspondence.
