Transport General Manager Responsibilities TRANSPORT GENERAL MANAGER – JOB DESCRIPTION The Transport General Manager is a position focused on the growth and profitability of Luke Transport. The Transport General Manager is responsible for continually working to improve the operations systems, processes, policies and sales business plans in support of the Mission and Vision statements. This includes Interaction and daily communication on delivery updates and service with all customers. The Transport General Manager supervises the Fuel Transport Drivers, Fuel Dispatchers, and Administrative Assistant. The Transport General Manager reports directly to the General Manager of Fuel Operations. Transport General Manager duties will include but are not limited to:
Supervise and provide leadership to build and maintain a strong team through effective communications, recruiting, training, coaching, counseling, appraising, rewarding, developing, and succession planning
Build and develop business relations with customers
Assess service and make the required decisions/changes that ensure value based on the changing needs and demands of the customers.
Provide excellent service to all customers, both internal and external. Represent the company in a safe and courteous manner
Drive profitability of transportation division by directing, measuring, and controlling company metrics to balance budget goals/ expectations
Analyze operating costs, equipment utilization, fuel mileage, pay practices for accuracy and to identify opportunities for cost savings and improvement
Ensure a positive attitude toward safety and that a safety culture exists. Ensure safety and compliance training is provided and followed by staff. Promote and ensure compliance with safety.
Develop and maintain good business relationships across the organization and collaborate to achieve business success
Oversee and negotiate maintenance and costs to maintain company-owned fuel transportation vehicles
Respond to emergencies in a timely manner, which includes calls outside of the normal working hours
Experience/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics or Supply Chain or equivalent experience (5 years of transportation leadership experience and some college in lieu of degree is acceptable)
Demonstrated experience leading, directing, communicating change and developing a team
Strong skill base and comfort with technology including Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and routing or dispatching systems is required .
Excellent analytical, problem solving skills is required
Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Skills:
Three (3) years of experience supervising and leading a transportation team consisting of drivers and staff
Experience managing customer accounts
Experience in the Tanker Transportation industry
Hours: Transport General Manager is a full time position that works a minimum of 40 hours per week Salary/IncomeTransport General Manager is an exempt, salaried position with quarterly bonus potential
