Gaylord Chemical Company is Hiring a Cost Accountant Near Covington, LA
Location: Covington, LA Hours M-F 8 am to 5 pm Reports to: Controller
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintaining cost accounting system, including standard cost calculations, inventory analysis, and
- Utilize the ERP system to gather and analyze cost data, including product costs, labor costs, overhead
- Continually work with accounting team to improve and streamline accounting processes
- Assisting in the preparation of the annual budget and rolling forecasts for cost of goods
- Reporting on costs of business processes such as labor, shipping, etc.
- Preparing inventory and CAPEX reconciliations to support monthly and annual close process
- Recommending changes to the companyʼs processes and policies to reduce costs andmaximize
- Collaborating with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Performing ad-hoc analysis and special projects as needed
Qualifications & Requirements:
- At least 3 years of cost accounting or senior accounting level responsibilities, preferably in a process
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- CPA or CMA or other relevant certification preferred, not required.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Strong understanding of financial andmanagerial accounting principles
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Knowledge or willingness to learn relevant sections of the internal revenue code pertinent to related
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present financial information to non-financial
- Proficiency in spreadsheet so�ware and an ERP system
