JOB DESCRIPTION
The Kubernetes Engineer will design, develop, configure, support, and maintain Kubernetes clusters and support the development teams around that ecosystem. The ideal candidate is a hands-on platform builder with significant experience in developing scalable data platforms, with experience in business intelligence, analytics, data science and data products. They must have strong, firsthand technical expertise in a variety of configuration management and big data technologies and the proven ability to fashion robust scalable solutions that can manage large data sets. This person should embody a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

• At least five (5) years of related Kubernetes experience.

• Building scalable, reliable microservices and cloud-based components of applications using Kubernetes.

• Working with large SQL or NoSQL database clusters such as Elasticsearch, Greenplum, etc.
• Creating and managing Kubernetes clusters, pods, services, and deployments.
• Proficient with Linux-based administration and shell scripting edge of systems.
• Experience with designing data models, architecting data systems, and standing up or supporting large data platforms.

• Developing and maintaining documentation related to application architecture, data flows, and Kubernetes infrastructure.

• Strong background in troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters and query performance issues to include working on query optimization with developers and tracking down slow log.

• DevOps experience building and deploying cloud and on-premises infrastructures with technologies like Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.

• Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with ETL pipelines and how to interface with data stores, and API endpoints.
• Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision.

• Experience with AWS Elastic Cloud for Kubernetes (ECK), and related technologies
• Experience with build automation technologies like Maven, Jenkins, etc.
• Experience with modern programming languages like Java, Python, etc.

• Support Elasticsearch and/or Elastic Cloud for Kubernetes (ECK) clusters.
• Analyze, design, and develop a processing platform using various configuration management technologies.
