Experience & QualificationsJob Description: GDH is hiring a Regional Affairs Analyst Level IV to work with our client, an innovative national security and intelligence, information technology, and DoD logistics provider.
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Very good organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects consistent with established timeframes.
  • Very good ability to synthesize information and develop recommendations for management based on an analysis of the information.
  • Very good judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in International Relations and five years of experience.
  • Excellent ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Possess a minimum Secret security clearance.
Duties:
  • Can perform work where guidelines are scarce or of limited use and administrative policies and precedents are applicable but stated in general terms.
  • Uses initiative and resourcefulness in deviating from traditional methods or researching trends and patterns to develop new methods, criteria, or proposed new policies.
  • Performs varied duties requiring many different and unrelated processes and methods applied to a broad range of activities or substantial depth of analysis.
  • Makes decisions on the approach, methodology, or interpretation and evaluation processes to be used as a result of continuing changes in program, technological developments, unknown phenomena, or conflicting requirements.
  • Originates new techniques, establishes criteria, or develops new information.
  • Establishes criteria; formulates projects; assesses program effectiveness; or investigates or analyzes a variety of unusual conditions, problems, or questions.
  • Provides products or services that affect a wide range of agency activities, major activities or industrial concerns, or the operation of other agencies.
  • Works with persons or groups to obtain a desired effect, such as gaining compliance with established policies and regulations by persuasion or negotiation or gaining information by establishing rapport with a suspicious informant.
Specific Duties:Employees selected perform all previous grade duties but must also:
  • Presents State Department positions that pertain to regulatory framework and regional or country-based issues to both foreign and domestic industry experts, subject matter experts, and governmental entities to audiences of at least 150.
  • Independently initiates Blue Lantern checks, including drafting and clearing cables.
  • Independently provides input into papers drafted by other State offices.
  • Independently drafts papers with few technical or grammatical errors.
  • Independently provides guidance to Post on implementation of Blue lantern checks.
  • Provides briefings in EUM training and outreach events.
  • Independently releases Watch List holds in a timely manner.
  • Supports briefings to senior USG personnel, foreign government officials, industry, and the Hill with moderate knowledge of U.S. defense trade controls.
  • Independently develops denial/RWA/proviso recommendations to DTCL with few edits required from team lead.
  • Develop short-notice reports on foreign export control systems and countries’ export/import trends related to munitions.
  • Initiate, draft, and assemble DCS “Country Reports.”
