Job Description SummaryIn Preliminary Mechanical Design, you are part of the team which designs and launches GE Aerospace’s next generation of products. This will include designing both novel & derivative propulsion systems, executing design space trade studies, and assessing strengths / weaknesses of each concept to influence GE strategic focus areas, customer requirements & proposal evaluation criteria, and to help prioritize GE technology investments.Job DescriptionRoles And ResponsibilitiesIn the role of Preliminary Mechanical Design Engineer, you will integrate and develop propulsion concepts that meet business needs across the organization, support system level decisions for architecture designs, trade studies and contribute to the overall business strategy. Additionally, Your Responsibilities Will Include
Work with internal & external customers to create propulsion solutions for next generation of aircraft across a wide range of products, including rotorcraft, supersonic & hypersonic aircraft and other fixed-wing concepts.
Support the cross-section development for preliminary design architecture studies, including weight, product cost, life cycle cost roll ups, or mechanical component sizing/layout
Partner with Preliminary Cycle Design engineers to ensure propulsion system feasibility
Coordinate with a cross-functional team of adjacent disciplines (aero, mechanical, systems, manufacturing) to assess technology capability & maturity
Communicate with leadership to help shape strategy
Execute the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements
Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
Participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and / or tasks
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited University or College.
More than 3 years post graduate work experience.
Eligibility Requirement

Exposure to both military and commercial engine design requirements

Current Secret US security clearance
