Now Hiring: Sous Chef in Asheville, NCA prominent restaurant in Asheville, NC is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Sous Chef to join their dynamic culinary team. This position is perfect for a culinary professional dedicated to the art of Upscale cuisine and eager to take on a leadership role in a fast-paced, upscale environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Daily Operations: Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring the highest level of food quality and presentation.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Chef to create innovative and high-quality Italian dishes that align with the restaurant's concept and standards.
  • Staff Management: Manage and train kitchen staff, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Menu Development: Develop and maintain menu items, taking into account seasonal availability and customer preferences.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor kitchen inventory and stock levels, placing orders as needed to maintain optimal levels and minimize waste.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and standards in the kitchen.
  • Creativity: Contribute to the development of new menu items and specials, offering creative input and ideas.
  • Administrative Tasks: Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
Qualifications
  • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a high-volume, upscale restaurant kitchen.
  • Leadership: Proven experience in a leadership role, overseeing kitchen staff and managing daily operations.
  • Culinary Expertise: Strong understanding of Italian cuisine, with the ability to create and execute authentic and innovative dishes.
  • Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and train a team effectively.
  • Operational Proficiency: Proficiency in menu planning, inventory management, and cost control.
  • Education: A culinary degree or certification from an accredited culinary school is preferred but not required.
  • Professionalism: Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment, maintaining professionalism and quality of work.
  • Flexibility: Flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends.
