GENERAL PURPOSE
Using tools to sand furniture, accomplishing on-time completions for reliability. Problem solves with the assistance of other team members and seeks continuous improvement. Performs and completes all activities with a high regard for the safety of others and oneself. May learn additional functions by cross-training in other departments as needed.
Essential FunctionsSmooth, shape, and touch up surfaces to prepare them for finishing. Hand sanding, jitterbug sanding of furniture frames, and parts.
Inspects work for quality, recognize flaws in components, and properly report problems to supervisors or receivers as necessary.
Performs Additional Responsibilities As Requested To Achieve Business Objectives.Utilizes lean manufacturing principles as trained or directed
Must be able to work in a team environment.
Must be able to work overtime as needed for production needs.
Must be safety oriented.

One of the following is required: (1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example), (2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency
Skills And AbilitiesCompetent in basic math skills such as counting, adding, and subtracting.
Ability to work cooperatively within the team as well as with members of other teams to meet goals.
Demonstrated willingness to adapt to a continually changing environment.
Required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms for the duration of the shift.
Ability to regularly lift and move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift and move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift and move up to 40 lbs.
Required to communicate and to be able to see with or without correction.
