Gemma Power Systems is seeking a full time Mechanical Field Engineer to join our team! We are looking for a motivated, hard-working individual to help support construction activities of the project in the execution phase. The ideal candidate will have experience in renewables (solar), combined-cycle power plant construction, or other large scale industrial projects.
PositionThe Mechanical Field Engineer role is a full-time position primarily responsible for supporting construction activities by planning, organizing and implementing the project controls system, assisting with subcontracts & material management, and supporting purchasing & scheduling. We are looking for someone who has a commitment to top quality and unwavering work ethic, can identify conflicts and provide solutions, and has vast attention to detail.
Job Responsibilities
  • Thorough understanding of the scope of work, contract, plans and specifications. Ability to identify discrepancies and obtain resolution.
  • Support technical interface between the site, the Project Engineering Manager, and the Engineer of Record.
  • Support the General Superintendent and Discipline Superintendent with work planning and problem resolution.
  • Monitor field changes and provide redline drawings of the as-built conditions.
  • Interface with subcontractors as assigned by the General Superintendent. Track schedule progress and provide quantitative tracking of work progress weekly.
  • Expedite testing reports. Review the test reports for specification compliance and provide to Quality Control.
  • Track and record Lessons Learned.
  • Provide documentation for change order requests.
  • Inspect delivered materials with QA/QC site representative to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Assist in preparation of contract scope for mechanical subcontractors.
  • Responsible for generation, tracking and sign off mechanical punch list items.
  • Responsible for integration of all required mechanical documentation for turn over packages for Commissioning.
  • Aid Start-Up team during checkout and Project Engineering Manager during Performance Tests.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed.
  • Assist in building work packages for the field supervision.
  • Coordinate and resolve discrepancies with Employees’ time with payroll.
  • Responsible for coordination with Superintendents for generation of 3 week look ahead schedules.
  • Prepare material requisitions for discipline Superintendents.
  • Generate and track RFI’s pertaining to assigned discipline on the project.
  • Reports up through assigned Superintendent to the Project General Superintendent.
Education And Experience Requirements
  • 2-3 years power plant, industrial, renewable construction experience preferred
  • Engineering degree preferred but not required
  • Highly motivated with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative
  • Strong work ethic; willing to do what it takes to get the job done right
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
  • Passion for safety and quality
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with basic Microsoft programs (Excel, Teams, Outlook) is desired
  • Ability to travel and relocate to small and large cities as business requires
