About the role:
Gen3 is currently seeking a talented Data Scientist to join our team, dedicated to supporting the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on the ISSM Vulnerability Compliance and Remediation Program. In this role, you will be responsible for leveraging data science techniques to analyze and optimize data taxonomy processes within the Information Systems Security Management (ISSM) environment. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to assess data maturity, identify discrepancies, and develop data-driven strategies for normalization and automation.
Location: Remote, US.
What you'll do: 

  • Utilize data science techniques to analyze and assess the maturity of data taxonomy processes, target systems, and reliant systems.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to establish data taxonomy frameworks aligned with industry standards and best practices.
  • Lead discussions with ISSM stakeholders to gather requirements, identify automation opportunities, and define data taxonomy objectives.
  • Develop and implement data analysis models to identify patterns, anomalies, and insights within disparate datasets.
  • Design and implement automated solutions for data normalization and taxonomy management using tools such as Python, R, SQL, and automation platforms.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of reporting systems to identify discrepancies, incomplete data, and other data quality issues.
  • Generate actionable insights and recommendations through data analysis and visualization techniques, such as dashboards and reports.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and system owners to implement corrective actions and track progress through completion.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in database administration, data science, and cybersecurity to drive continuous improvement. 
What you'll need:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related field.
  • Able to IRS Public Trust. Green card or US Citizenship required.
  • Any of the following or other related certifications is highly desired:
    • MS Power BI Certification
    • Tableau Desktop Specialist
    • Tableau Desktop Certified Professional
  • Proven experience in data analysis, and data science techniques.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI for creating insightful visualizations.
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and algorithms for predictive modeling and pattern recognition.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, data management frameworks, and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA, FedRamp, FIPS).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools is a plus.
