SCI , the leading real estate executive search firm, is looking for a mission-driven Director of Development or Senior Development Manager to join the Columbus-based team of a national developer/owner/manager of large-scale, transformative affordable and mixed-income housing projects. This developer has completed over 32,000 units across the country and is recognized as an industry leader in impact, urban revitalization, design and sustainability.

The position will lead real estate development projects from initial conception/design, entitlements, planning, financing, applications, closing, construction, lease-up and stabilized occupancy.

The company is growing in this region and this is an opportunity to move into regional development leadership over time. This position will be well-supported on each project by junior development staff, finance project management and design/construction managers to serve as the owner’s rep - allowing this person to focus on high level decisions and quarterbacking.

Ideal candidates will have 7-20 years of experience leading the development of affordable or mixed-income housing projects, with an ability to be the “face of the deal” in the community - successfully driving and closing these transactions. Must have the ability to manage all elements of a project. Hybrid office schedule - 3 days/week. Also open to fully remote candidates in OH/MI/IN region, who can get to projects as needed.

Skills and experience should include:

• Must have affordable housing experience (LIHTC)
• Bachelor’s degree required with a Master’s preferred.
• Strong financial and analytical skills, with a passion for real estate development and community engagement
• Ability to handle multiple projects from start through closing and construction
• Ability to manage a sizeable development team of internal and external contributors

*Experience with urban, market-rate and commercial components is a huge plus.
