WORK SCHEDULES

  • Travel Required: Within a 30-mile radius 
  • Work Location: Collin, Dallas, and Denton counties 

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Education or GED required 
  • Must be 18 years or older 
  • Valid Texas Driver's License, clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and proof of current vehicle insurance on reliable vehicle
  • Have a smartphone
  • Good verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to read, write, follow instructions, and complete training or pass competency assessment for understanding clients' needs 
  • CPR/First Aid certified (preferred)
  • Dementia care experience (preferred)
  • TB screened 
  • Handle emergencies in the home and infection control 
  • Evidence of sympathetic attitude toward the care of the elderly 
  • Evidence of maturity and ability to deal effectively with job demands 
  • Attend eight (8) hours of caregiver in-services per year 
  • Shall have background/criminal history check conducted prior to being offered work with this agency 
  • Ability to work under supervision to ensure competence in providing client care 
  • Must provide on-the-job training to others
  • Texas Employability/Nurse Registry clearance 
  • Shall have either: 
  • One-year full-time experience in an institutional setting, such as a hospital or nursing home, OR 
  • One-year full-time experience within the last five years in direct client care in a home care agency setting 

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will work under the agency's Administrator, providing client care as directed. Your role involves delivering high-quality in-home care services and adhering to the organization's philosophy and standards for non-skilled in-home care. 

Direct Client Care

  • Provides personal hygiene assistance for clients (i.e., bathing, dressing, and toileting) 
  • Provides continuous companionship while on duty 
  • Provides client assistance with transferring, ambulating, positioning, incontinence care, etc.
  • Observes the client's physical, emotional, and mental condition and reports changes to the Administrator 
  • Uses proper techniques when performing or assisting with Activities of Daily Living 
  • Provides medication reminders and supervises the self-administration of medication 
  • Assists with Activities of Daily Living such as eating, basic meal preparation, laundry, transportation, and personal care shopping 

Client Safety and Well-being

  • Performs light housekeeping duties 
  • Reports abuse, neglect, exploitation and any unusual incidents according to the agency's guidelines 
  • Ensures home care services are provided in a safe and professional manner 
  • Follows basic infection control procedures and universal precautions 
  • Must always use proper body mechanics 
  • Acts quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency 

Professionalism and Documentation

  • Maintains strict confidentiality of client, family, and caregiver information 
  • Reports to work and leaves at scheduled times 
  • Maintains daily documentation of tasks performed in the agency’s proprietary software 
  • Adheres to the client's plan of care 
  • Maintains good personal hygiene and a neat appearance 
  • Follows the agency's policies and procedures 
  • Adheres to the company's safety
  • Understands and respects clients' rights and responsibilities 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Deals effectively with stress 
  • Performs tasks involving physical activity, which may include heavy lifting and extensive bending and standing
