Genesee Education Consultant Services is Hiring a Middle School Math Intervention Teacher Near Flint, MI

EFFECTIVE DATE: 2023/2024 School Year
Grant Funded position for at least the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year
Essential Duties (May Include, But Not Limited To)
  • Believe that all children can and will learn at high levels.
  • Have a strong desire to work with and make positive impacts on reluctant learners.
  • Support, supplement and extend classroom teaching, and works collaboratively with middle school staff members to implement a quality support program that meets the needs of at-risk and reluctant learners.
  • Uses specialized knowledge of assessment and diagnosis for developing, implementing, and evaluating academic interventions for individual and small groups of students.
  • Assess the strengths and needs of students and provide that information to classroom teachers, parents, and specialized personnel.
  • Acts as a resource to other educators, parents, and the community.
  • Review assessments to help determine strategy for intervention instruction.
  • Monitors student progress for the purpose of providing feedback on a regular basis to students, teachers, parents, and determining intervention/support effectiveness so modifications can be made to student plans as appropriate.
  • Groups and schedules students according to student needs.
  • Provides instruction to individual or small groups of students using best instructional practices for intervention instruction of core content subjects.
  • Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and an optimal learning environment.
  • Manages allotted learning time to maximize student achievement.
  • Collects, analyzes and prepares data for the purpose of interpretation and reporting.
  • Involved in parent learning nights to support parents as appropriate to provide parents with strategies to support learning.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience teaching in a middle school role (core subject areas preferred).
  • Interested and excited about closing the learning gap for middle school students and eager to take risks to meet the needs of at-risk and reluctant learners.
  • Valid Teaching license/certificate with appropriate endorsements.
  • Master’s degree in mathematics or relevant teaching experience in mathematics with a focus on the “Essential Practices of Mathematics” highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of researched based best practices and experience with successful implementation of those strategies with at-risk students.
  • Able to think comprehensively to schedule individual and small group work with at-risk reluctant students with the least amount of disruption.
Special Job Considerations
  • Based on FCCA certified salary scale $46,808-$73,529 (could also be an hourly position depending on needs/availability)
  • Qualifies for full family health/dental/vision insurance coverage or cash option if working 30 hours per week.
