The Director of Manufacturing Production Operations plays a critical role in overseeing all aspects of the manufacturing and production processes within the organization. They are responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring efficient production processes, and delivering high-quality products to meet customer demands. This role is vital in aligning manufacturing strategies with business goals, maintaining regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize productivity and reduce costs.
Key responsibilities
Developing and implementing strategic plans to optimize manufacturing and production operations
Leading and managing a team of production supervisors, engineers, and other staff
Ensuring compliance with quality control standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols
Overseeing production scheduling, resource allocation, and capacity planning
Establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational efficiency and productivity
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve product quality
Managing budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives to meet financial objectives
Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production processes and reduce waste
Implementing lean manufacturing principles and best practices for optimal resource utilization
Developing and maintaining strong vendor and supplier relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective material sourcing
Providing leadership in problem-solving and decision-making for production challenges
Evaluating and implementing new technologies and automation to enhance manufacturing capabilities
Participating in the development and execution of new product introductions and scaling up production
Ensuring a strong focus on employee safety, training, and development to maintain a high-performing workforce
Reporting on key operational metrics and performance to senior management
Required qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field
Proven experience (8-10 years) in manufacturing and production management, with a focus on operational leadership
Demonstrated track record of successfully driving operational improvement initiatives and achieving production targets
In-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and best practices
Strong understanding of quality management systems, regulatory standards, and safety protocols
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in budgeting, cost control, and financial management
Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
Experience in implementing new technologies, automation, and optimizing manufacturing processes
Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams and foster a culture of continuous improvement
Proven track record of managing cross-functional collaborations and successfully executing new product introductions
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
Proficiency in using relevant software and systems for production planning and control
Certifications in Operations Management or Quality Management (e.g., Six Sigma) is a plus
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
