- Remain with physician at all times in the exam room unless asked to step out or sent to schedule a study.
- Assist the doctor in all aspects of the patient’s initial consultation, and 1. Weekly status checks 2. Routine follow-up examinations 3. Any emergency visits that are needed.
- Document information of patients’ progress for weekly status checks in EMR.
- Report any issues/concerns to physician. Also, inform Sr. Therapist of any patient changes that would affect the schedule.
- Maintain PQRI so that number remains minimal at all times.
- Drawing of blood and entering information into Labcorp for various lab tests, as directed by physician. Call patients with results as needed, once received.
- Practice of safety precautions and wearing of personal protective equipment when needed.
- Documentation of medications that the patients are currently taking, and document any new medications prescribed by our physicians while under our care. This includes the name of the medication, dose and amount prescribed, physician prescribing, instructions, date, and then documented in the EMR. Assure that medications are entered into system on a timely manner so the necessary reporting for meaningful use can be generated.
- Work closely with physician to assure all necessary information is entered accurately and timely into EMR.
- Provide education to patients with verbal and printed materials.
- Responsible for electronically documenting patient’s vital signs, initial weight, and all followup weights, as required.
- Responsible for CCD reporting for all new consults. Reports are to be generated within 3 days of patient’s consults visit.
- Verifying that the allergy sticker is complete.
- Inform Sr. Therapist of any medical supplies needing to be ordered.
- Maintain HIPAA rules and regulations as it applies to patient privacy.
- Attend weekly chart rounds.
- Assist in lifting or transferring patients in a safe manner.
- Review patient educational materials on all new consult patients
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Strong communication skills-both written and verbal.
- Professional and reliable
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills
- Demonstrates care and compassion in dealing with patients.
- Ability to multi-task and be detail oriented
- Good computer skills
- Current valid certification or license for Florida.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in oncology
