Salary Range: $23.00 - $26.00 Hourly

This role is based at Catlin Gabel School, a progressive independent PreK-12 school located on a beautiful 67-acre campus 5 miles from downtown Portland. We are seeking great team members who are excited by the opportunity to work within a dynamic school environment with opportunities beyond traditional food services including event catering, athletic concessions, pop up food events across campus, and more!

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Ensure food safety standards are being followed at all times 

  • Cook and prep food correctly based on recipes and specifications provided from the Chef/Genuine Foods

  • Communicate with the Food Service Director and/or Executive Chef on any pertinent issues with product, staffing, timing, etc. 

  • Manage cooks and food service workers to ensure they are following proper Genuine standards, recipes, etc while providing guidance and training. 

  • Act as the lead in the absence of the Chef and/or Director. 

  • Maintains standards as outlined by the Department of Health for a food safe environment and reports immediately any issues such as equipment or facilitates related. 

  • Coordinate with team members to ensure all food is prepared on time. 

  • Maintain a clean working environment and help the team with any additional cleaning duties. 

  • Keep the area stocked and organized. 

  • Perform any additional duties as assigned. 

Qualifications


  • Must be flexible & team-oriented! 
  • 3 year of line cook or culinary experience 
  • 1 year of management experience 
  • Willingness to learn the compliance requirements of the USDA National School Lunch Program. 
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic and level headedness. 
  • Punctual and able to adhere to the time and attendance policy. 
  • Able to climb stairs and lift up 50 lbs. 
  • Interest in and committed to Genuine Foods’ mission to use food to help students enhance their minds, bodies and happiness. 
  • Must be able to work in a school environment.
