Geodesicx is Hiring an Optical Communications Subject Matter Expert Near Charleston, SC

Overview: Geodesicx is looking for an individual that has knowledge of optics and laser communications to join our team in support of the USMC Ground Communications effort. The Optical Communications SME role is pivotal in advancing and securing the USMC's optical communication systems. This position focuses on the design, implementation, and maintenance of cutting-edge optical communication technologies. The SME will collaborate with a dedicated team, aligning with standards set by the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic and the USMC to ensure robust, high-speed, and secure data transmission capabilities.
Experience: Candidates for the Optical Communications SME position should have extensive experience in optical communications technologies. Desired qualifications include:
  • Optical Communications Expertise: Deep knowledge of optical fiber technology, laser systems, and photonic communication networks.
  • System Design: Proficiency in the design and deployment of optical communication systems.
  • Troubleshooting: Strong skills in diagnosing and resolving optical system issues.
  • Innovation: Capability to innovate and integrate new optical technologies into existing communication infrastructures.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork and stakeholder engagement.
The ideal candidate will be at the forefront of optical communications, driving innovation and security in high-speed data transmission for the USMC.
Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer, Electrical or Electronics Engineering or Mathematics with field of concentration in computer science; Individual shall have relevant certifications: Professional Software Engineering Master (PSEM)/ Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) or with COR approval complete a vendor/platform specific certification: ___Microsoft role-based certifications, Microsoft Certified Applicable s Developer (MCAD), Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), Red Hat Certification Program (RHCP), CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CISCO Certified Design Professional (CCDP), Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), VMWare Certified Professional (VCP), Cloud certifications.
