Geoff McDonald & Associates is Hiring a Litigation Paralegal (Plaintiff's Personal Injury) Near Richmond, VA

Job DescriptionGeoff McDonald & Associates is an established, medium-sized law firm with offices in Richmond and Virginia Beach, whose core practice is rooted in Plaintiff's Personal Injury and Worker's Compensation. We are looking to add an experienced Litigation Paralegal to our Richmond Personal Injury Team. This is a full-time, in-office position.
Our litigation paralegals play a vital role in our cases and work closely with our attorneys and clients. Our paralegals do not sit on the sidelines; you will actively participate in all phases of litigation, including attending trial.
In this role, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
  • Maintain consistent and thorough client communication
  • Investigative work, including interviewing witnesses and law enforcement; collect documents related to same
  • Submit FOIA requests to various government entities
  • Work with our vendor to collect medical and billing records
  • Review medical records and bills and log them to our case management system;
  • Work with the attorney to ensure client's are receiving proper and consistent medical care
  • Collect information on lost wages and lost income
  • Communicate with adjusters, opposing counsel, court personnel, medical providers, experts and vendors
  • Conduct monthly file reviews with the assigned attorney
  • Participate in weekly POD meetings
  • Perform legal research using Lexis and other platforms
  • Draft pleadings including Complaints, Notices, Motions, Discovery Responses and Requests
  • Schedule Hearings, Mediations, Judicial Settlement Conferences and Jury Trials
  • Manage Electronic Case Files including small and large-scale Document Productions in our case management system
  • Prepare for and attend Trial; calendar and track PTSO deadlines
  • Prepare Attorneys for hearings, depositions and trial
The right person will be kind, professional, dedicated, a team player, well organized, exude positivity, and capable of successfully handling multiple deadlines at once. Additionally, you must have compassion, empathy and a servant’s heart – our clients deserve nothing less! Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat. Experience using legal case management software is necessary; knowledge of SmartAdvocate is a major plus!
Applicants should have a minimum of two (2) years of litigation experience in a law firm setting. Office hours are Monday thru Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
