Job Title: Utility Designator Crew Member

GeoPoint Surveying, Inc. is a land surveying firm with multiple locations, specializing in land development, remote sensing, energy, geospatial mapping, commercial surveys and subsurface utility engineering.

The Utility Designator Crew Member serves as the starting point for building a robust foundation in Subsurface Utility Engineering (S.U.E.). This role provides hands-on experience with Electro-Magnetic and GPR instruments, enabling precise utility location and marking. The Utility Designator Crew Member Level 1 plays a fundamental role in non-intrusive vacuum excavations and contributes to meticulous record-keeping of S.U.E. projects while also fostering a positive working environment.

Essential Job Functions:

• Acquire proficiency in using electro-magnetic locating equipment, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), and other methods for accurate utility location
• Gain exposure to basic GIS/Data Collection for utility mapping and Test Hole Data
• Participate in the safe operation of vacuum trucks and equipment to uncover utilities Support equipment maintenance and ensure functionality under guidance
• Assist in maintaining precise SUE records, encompassing Test Hole Forms, Descriptive Photos, and Field Sketches
• Adhere to stringent safety procedures to establish and maintain a secure work environment
• Promote and maintain a positive working environment, encouraging collaboration and excellence

• May reach, kneel, crouch, bend, or twist
• Some other physical demands may come up

Work Environment:

• Desk/Workstation may be located in a confined area
• Moderate noise indoors/outdoors (i.e., computers, phones, printers, and traffic)
• Able to work well in a team environment as well as being self-motivated and driven

Travel:

• Some travel may be required
