Job DescriptionJob Description:George Schmitt & Co., Inc. is a security printing and converting company located in Guilford, CT. This is a full time position. We are seeking an experienced person to do machining and building maintenance as part of the engineering team In our Guilford facility. This is a job shop type of environment with broad diversity in the day to day assignments. This job requires an energetic, responsible and mature individual with high mechanical comprehension. The successful applicant must have the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team. Duties include machining and fabricating components for printing presses, converting and test equipment as well as doing machine repairs. The assignments may include building & installing machine modifications, upgrades and retrofits, diagnosing & repairing mechanical system problems, relocating machinery, provide support to the production department and tending to limited facility related tasks. The successful candidate must have:
Have 10 years of experience machining metals and plastics;
Have their own toolmaker tools;
Be proficient reading CAD drawings, understand tolerances and machine bearing bores;
Be proficient in milling and turning;
Be proficient in the use of manual machine tools: Engine lathes, turret mills, etc.
Be proficient in TIG & MIG welding. Sheet metal work is occasional but essential.
Be willing to work on machinery and material handling equipment repair as needed;
Be willing to support the facility ** as needed;
Be willing to work with outside contractors when needed for machinery or facility support.
