Job Overview
The Communication and Events Coordinator supports several tasks, including the spearheading of initiatives such as expanding our alumni network and developing effective and meaningful event programming, organizing the career fair and other event details, and establishing and managing details such as room allocation, data collection and recording. Responsibilities also include support for alumni data collection to maintain a much-needed "Career Placement Data" section on our website.
The Communication and Events Coordinator also supports the continued growth of the Data Science and Analytics program by managing all student and alumni events, as well as assisting program leadership with related project and administrative needs. They work closely with the Director of Student Services to manage and grow ongoing event operations that support current students, including but not limited to:
Coordinating orientation, welcome events, internship and career workshops, industry seminars, annual career fair, and commencement activities
Coordinating social activities for current students including mentorship program group events
Managing events for prospective and admitted students, including on-campus and virtual open houses and information sessions
Managing alumni networking events, including panel discussions, receptions, and virtual networking opportunities
Working with DSAN partner Lander Analytics to host the DCR conference on Georgetown's campus annually
Assisting program leadership and full-time faculty with special projects as needed
Work Interactions
Reporting to the Director of Student Services, the Communication and Events Coordinator works closely with all functional areas within the Graduate School Dean's Office on a regular basis. In addition, this position works closely with faculty. Toward supporting the needs of the students and faculty in the program, they also work closely with University Registrar, Georgetown Event Management Services (GEMS), Classroom Educational Technology Services (CETS), the Graduate Career Center, and the Alumni Office.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
1 year relevant experience
Skilled and creative multi-tasker with strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with event planning
Knowledge of Georgetown application systems
